‘Blade’ Reboot Stuck in Development Hell Finally Gets a Filming Update
Marvel has many upcoming projects planned for the next few years. However, a lot of these projects got delayed or canceled because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which affected the entire industry.
One of the highly anticipated projects is the new ‘Blade’ movie by Marvel Studios. It’s based on the character Eric Brooks, a famous vampire hunter from the comics. This movie is a reboot of the earlier ‘Blade’ trilogy, which played a significant role in shaping the current Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We don’t know much about the ‘Blade’ movie except that Mahershala Ali suggested it and that it’s had a tough time getting off the ground. However, there’s hope that things might be turning around soon. Production Weekly reports that filming is scheduled to start in the UK this fall, likely in the fourth quarter of 2024. Recently, there have been rumors about major changes to the script, like Blade’s daughter being removed and the setting no longer being a period piece. It’s also said that filming has been moved from the USA to London. Production Weekly has confirmed some of these changes, so it seems like the rumors about the filming location and direction are true.
Insiders say the movie will include Black Knight and Ebony Blade. A few months back, the director, Demange, confirmed that the movie would be rated “R” to stay true to the character and the legacy of the original films. ‘Blade’ is set to come out in 2025, though no specific date has been announced yet.
