Marvel has numerous projects slated for release in the coming years, many of which have been in limbo due to the historic SAG-AFTRA strike that paralyzed the entire industry, resulting in delays and cancellations.
One highly anticipated Marvel Studios project that faced issues long before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ This MCU-based film follows Eric Brooks, the iconic vampire hunter from the comics, and serves as a reboot of the immensely popular ‘Blade’ trilogy, which played a significant role in shaping the MCU as we know it today.
We’ve been closely monitoring the ‘Blade’ project, often with less-than-ideal updates, and now fresh rumors suggest another round of rewrites for the film. According to industry insider and notable leaker Daniel Richtman, significant revisions are underway, prompting the search for a new writer. While the story concept and shooting specifics are finalized, filming is set for Fall 2024 in either Mexico or Brazil. Casting for a new male main villain is in progress, but details beyond that are currently undisclosed.
The production of ‘Blade’ has been plagued with difficulties and numerous delays. The latest rumors suggest yet another delay, pushing the release from November 7, 2025, to an unspecified date in 2026.
The film is anticipated to introduce the Ebony Blade, which made its debut alongside Blade in ‘Eternals.’
