Brad Pitt Finally Confirms His Return to the ‘Ocean’s’ Franchise

For years, fans have wondered whether Hollywood’s smoothest heist crew would ever pull off one more job. Now Brad Pitt has offered the clearest sign yet that Danny Ocean’s gang is getting back together, and it all comes down to what George Clooney put on the page.

Steven Soderbergh’s original trilogy became a box office powerhouse, launching with 2001’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven’, which earned just over $450 million worldwide. It continued with ‘Ocean’s Twelve’ in 2004, which made $362 million, and ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ in 2007, which took in $311 million.

Clooney first hinted at a new chapter back in 2023, telling Uproxx that the team had a really good script for another ‘Ocean’s’ film. At the time, he hesitated to call it ‘Ocean’s 14’, describing the idea as something like ‘Going in Style’.

Momentum picked up last fall when Clooney told E! News that Warner Bros. had approved the budget and filming could begin within about a year. He also said Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Julia Roberts were expected to return.

Now Pitt himself has weighed in. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight alongside his ‘Heart of the Beast’ director David Ayer, Pitt confirmed he will reunite with Clooney, Damon, and Roberts for ‘Ocean’s 14’.

When asked about the return, Pitt said the group is figuring things out now. He praised Clooney for writing a banger of a script that makes it genuinely worth coming back to tell another story, adding that they are going to do it.

Fans online quickly treated the comments as a turning point, with one reply noting that Pitt’s involvement is what makes the project feel real. Another user playfully wondered where Clooney might end up filming.

Despite his excitement, Pitt admitted he’s a little concerned about the reunion, joking that hijinks will inevitably ensue among the longtime castmates. It’s not the first time he has teased his friendship with Clooney.

Previously, Pitt quipped that he had sworn off working with Clooney for health reasons, before giving the script his seal of approval by calling it pretty damn tasty. The pair most recently reunited on screen in ‘Wolfs’.

Roberts has already read the script, and she joked in an Entertainment Tonight interview that getting so many stars in one place won’t be easy. She singled out Pitt as the busiest of the group, noting that he works the most.

That seems fair, given his current slate. Pitt is promoting the survival thriller ‘Heart of the Beast’, which hit theaters on September 25 and which he has called the hardest movie he’s ever made physically. The cast could also grow. Entertainment Weekly reported that Andy Garcia is joining the sequel, suggesting the film may have found its villain once again.

Fans should note that ‘Ocean’s 14’ is separate from another franchise project in development. Warner Bros. is also preparing an ‘Ocean’s’ prequel starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, with Robbie reportedly playing Danny Ocean’s mother.

‘Ocean’s 14’ does not yet have a release date. Still, with a completed script, an approved budget, and now Pitt’s enthusiastic confirmation, the long-rumored reunion appears closer than ever.
