Brad Winderbaum Hints at The Defenders’ Return in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’—‘Collisions Are Inevitable’”

The release of Echo introduced several new elements to the MCU. It was the first series under the Marvel Spotlight banner and the first R-rated, character-focused show. Despite the main character being relatively unknown, the series performed well.

One of Echo‘s biggest contributions was officially incorporating Netflix’s Defenders Saga into the MCU timeline. While this integration comes with some inconsistencies, they will likely be addressed in the future—especially with Daredevil: Born Again on the horizon, serving as a revival of the original Daredevil series.

With Daredevil’s return, fans are now wondering about the fate of other Defenders characters, particularly Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Both actors have expressed their willingness to reprise their roles and continue their stories, fueling speculation about their potential comeback.

Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum hinted that Daredevil: Born Again could be the start of a full Defenders revival. He confirmed that Marvel is exploring ways to bring other Defenders characters into the MCU. Since Matt Murdock operates in New York, Winderbaum believes it’s only a matter of time before he crosses paths with his old allies. While he didn’t share details, he made it clear that Marvel is interested in bringing its Netflix heroes to Disney+.

I don’t know, I want to follow the characters and see where they go. I think the two characters that are most important for Daredevil: Born Again are obviously Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. They live and breath in a world where these other Defenders characters are walking around somewhere, so I think collisions are inevitable.

This is not the first time that Defenders have been teased in the MCU. Recently during Brazil’s D23 Winderbaum stated he would like to see Jessica Jones’ story continue with another season in the MCU.

He also recently teased that characters like Colleen Wing could return under the right circumstances, and there are exciting surprises for fans of the Netflix shows, especially with ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ coming up.

It’s all one shared universe, so you never know where characters are going to pop up next. It’s a huge opportunity to have officially folded those stories into our canon. Whether or not they were always part of the canon, it’s now official, and we can play with those toys in our toy box. There are surprises around the band that I won’t get into, but for fans of the Netflix shows, we’ve got a very exciting show on the horizon in Daredevil: Born Again.
