Brian Cox Discusses Potential Return as William Stryker in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’: “I Haven’t Heard about It”
If you’ve been paying attention, you know the biggest superhero movie of the year, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ is almost here. It’s bringing Deadpool into the MCU and aims to restore fans’ faith after a few disappointing releases in the past two years.
Apart from being a Deadpool flick, fans are hyped about the possible cameos and appearances from different characters, with rumors swirling about over 20 people making a return, although only a few are seen in the trailers.
There were also rumors suggesting that Brian Cox might reprise his role as William Stryker in the film. Cox portrayed the antagonist in ‘X2’ before the role was taken over by Danny Huston in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’ In the movies, Stryker is depicted as a military scientist who conducts experiments on mutants to develop potent weapons and control methods. Cox addressed the speculation about his potential return in an interview with The Starting Line Podcast.
I haven’t heard about it. No I mean, I did Stryker, and then they did it again in Australia, and my friend Danny Huston played Stryker. Danny’s an old friend of mine so I, don’t feel any…But I kept thinking why did they not ask me. And I spoke to David Benioff about it, beacuse he had done the original, he didn’t do the final script, but he did the original script. So I don’t know. When these things finish, I tend to let go of them. I don’t dwell on anything. I mean, If they want to do it with the other side that’s their business. I’m gonna be busy anyway next year. So I won’t have time to do anything. As it is, I’ve gotta look at stuff, and I’m saying, they’re offering me a lot of money to do certain things, and I can’t do it. I’m just saying, “nope, I’m tied up” beacuse I’m doing what I want to do you know.
Seems like he’s eager to join the movie, but who knows for sure. Either way, knowing Cox, he would accidentally spill the beans about his cameo, so we can trust him this time.
Most of the rumored and confirmed cameos are from Fox’s X-Men movies, featuring both heroes and villains. So, even if Cox doesn’t return, maybe Huston will.
