In recent years, Marvel Studios has faced some challenges. Since the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, the studio has received mostly “mixed” reviews at best and has experienced several significant box office flops.

As a result, several planned projects have been shelved, with Bob Iger announcing that the studio will be scaling back its creative output in the coming years.

British fans have long been asking for content centered around UK-based characters, as some of the most iconic figures in the comics hail from across the pond. While we did get Secret Invasion, which took place in Europe last summer, the show was (in my opinion) barely watchable and hasn’t been well-received.

There were rumors that Marvel Studios was developing an MI13/Excalibur series, but those rumors have since fizzled out.

MI13, or Military Intelligence, Section 13, is the UK’s agency responsible for handling paranormal incidents, working alongside MI5, MI6, GCHQ, and DI within the nation’s intelligence community. Directed by the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC), MI13 is tasked with protecting Britain from mystical, extraterrestrial, and superhuman threats.

Recently, industry insider Alex Perez revealed during a Discord Q&A that the show was indeed in development according to his sources, but his wording suggests that this is no longer the case.

Futers11: When can I get a British MCU show or movie?

Alex: They were working on an MI13/Excalibur project.

What Perez shared aligns with something we reported several months ago: the rumored MI13 project has reportedly been replaced by a standalone Captain Britain series. The idea of Captain Britain joining the MCU is nothing new, as rumors have circulated since 2018. For those unfamiliar, Captain Britain, also known as Brian Braddock, is not just a British “version of Captain America.” Introduced in 1976, he possesses magical powers granted by Merlyn, making him a blend of superhero and mystical guardian. His stories often delve into magical realms, which could bring an intriguing new element to the MCU.

Recently, Henry Cavill expressed interest in playing Captain Britain in the MCU, leading fans to speculate that he might be a frontrunner for the role if the project moves forward.

However, fans have had mixed reactions to this “news”:
