‘Brothers’ Episode 5 Release Date, Where to Watch and What to Expect

Share:

The fifth episode of ‘Brothers’ arrives on Apple TV on Wednesday, October 14, continuing a weekly rollout that began with a double premiere in late September. The installment is titled “Valentine’s Day” and follows Matthew and Woody as a forgotten holiday sends their lives into disarray.

For viewers trying to keep pace with the season, the schedule is simple and the streaming options are limited to one platform. The comedy stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as fictionalized versions of themselves, with the pair living through the fallout of a decades old family secret. Here is what is confirmed about the next chapter.

‘Brothers’ Release Date and Weekly Episode Schedule

Apple TV announced that the season of eight episodes would debut globally on Wednesday, September 23 with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through November 4, 2026. That structure means the fifth episode lands exactly three weeks after the premiere date.

According to Reelgood’s episode guide, the fourth episode, titled “The Band,” arrives on October 7, while “Valentine’s Day” follows on October 14 and “The Dance” is set for October 21. Viewers who have fallen behind therefore have one more Wednesday to catch up before the holiday storyline begins.

The seventh episode, “The Interview,” is scheduled for October 28, which leaves the season finale to close out the run on November 4. With only a handful of installments left after this one, each weekly drop carries more weight in a short season.

Where to Watch ‘Brothers’ on Apple TV

In the United States, ‘Brothers’ streams on Apple TV, with new episodes arriving every Wednesday. Apple lists the service at twelve dollars and ninety nine cents per month, with a seven day free trial available to new subscribers. That trial is enough to cover a large portion of the current season for anyone who has not yet signed up.

The Apple TV app runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV 4K, Apple Vision Pro and Mac, as well as smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, VIZIO and TCL. It is also available on Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Availability outside the United States varies slightly by region. Viewers in Canada and the United Kingdom can reach the series through the Apple TV Prime Video Channel, while Australian viewers can watch directly on Apple TV.

A Preview of the Valentine’s Day Episode

The official synopsis for the fifth episode says things quickly spiral out of control for Matthew and Woody after they forget Valentine’s Day. It is a familiar sitcom setup, and early reviews have taken note of that.

In its review, IndieWire pointed to the forgotten holiday and the need to make it up to their wives as part of a series that plods along as a clichéd family comedy. The outlet gave the show a grade of C minus.

The AV Club also singled out the Valentine’s Day plot as one of several stock storylines placed inside run of the mill scripts. RogerEbert.com was more generous toward the leads, writing that their real chemistry translates well and can make even the most tired sitcom concept work. The preview material suggests the episode will lean on that chemistry more than on surprise.

The Cast and Story Behind ‘Brothers’

The series begins after Harrelson’s daughter’s wedding collapses and he travels with his family to McConaughey’s ranch in Austin. There, a comment from McConaughey’s mother, known as Ma Mac and played by Holland Taylor, suggests the two men may be brothers. While Harrelson turns the ranch upside down in search of the truth, McConaughey juggles a potential run for governor of Texas.

The ensemble also includes Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan and Oona Yaffe. Jason Winer and Trent O’Donnell are credited as directors on the season.

The road to the screen was not entirely smooth. Filming began in Austin in March of last year and wrapped that fall, after production paused in mid June when showrunner David West Read exited over creative differences, with Lee Eisenberg joining shortly afterward. The project was first announced in 2023 under the title ‘Brother From Another Mother.’

With two families, a possible governor’s campaign and a ruined holiday all colliding on one ranch, it is fair to ask which household will bear the cost when the fifth episode of ‘Brothers’ lands, and whether Matthew or Woody deserves more blame for forgetting Valentine’s Day in the first place.
