Callina Liang Serves a Showstopping Look at the ‘Street Fighter’ Mexico City Fan Event
The countdown to ‘Street Fighter’ is officially in its final stretch. With the live-action adaptation of Capcom’s legendary fighting game just days from release, the cast has been crisscrossing the globe on a promotional run dubbed the World Warrior Tour.
For Callina Liang, who plays Chun-Li, every stop has turned into a fashion moment. She stepped out in a glossy red satin top with a scarf-style collar for press photos on October 2, then posed beside arcade machines at the film’s ComplexCon booth just days later.
The latest chapter came in Mexico City on October 8, where Liang delivered a striking look at the ‘Street Fighter’ fan event. Liang wore a sheer black mini dress with a dotted pattern, finished with a dramatic ruffled panel sweeping across the bodice. She paired it with black ankle-strap heels.

She kept her hair pulled up into sleek buns. Posing in front of the film’s fiery orange logo, she struck confident stances that fans quickly praised online. The event took place at Cinépolis Universidad in the south of the city, starting at 4:30 p.m. Mexico City was chosen as the tour’s only stop in Latin America.
🥋✨👑 #CallinaLiang

Liang was joined by co-stars Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, and WWE star Cody Rhodes, along with director Kitao Sakurai. Fans showed up in costumes, and Rhodes took time to greet wrestling fans in the crowd.
Mexican outlet Excelsior reported that playing Chun-Li carries a deeply personal meaning for Liang. The evening also featured live music that recalled the days when ‘Street Fighter’ brought players together around arcade cabinets.
Liang was cast as Chun-Li in June 2025, putting her at the center of one of the year’s most anticipated video game adaptations. To prepare, she reportedly trained around 2 hours a day across 3 disciplines: Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and Wushu.

That hard work appears to have paid off. Early footage has highlighted several epic action scenes featuring Liang, fitting for a character famous for her spinning helicopter kick. Set in 1993, the film follows estranged fighters Ken Masters and Ryu, played by Centineo and Koji. They are pulled back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament.

Momoa plays Blanka, while Rhodes takes on the role of Guile. The film is directed by Sakurai and marks the franchise’s return to the big screen. ‘Street Fighter’ arrives in Mexican cinemas on October 15, one week after the fan event.
In the US, Paramount is hosting “Bonus Round” opening night fan screenings on the same date, offering exclusive content, an art print, and character buttons. Online reaction to the film has been mixed but lively.
Still, many fans have praised Liang’s take on Chun-Li, with some joking they would see the movie for her alone. With release day nearly here, Liang’s press tour has become an event in its own right. Fans will soon find out whether her Chun-Li lives up to the hype.
