Chilling Teaser for ‘Him’ Unleashes Marlon Wayans as a Sinister Cult Leader in Jordan Peele-Produced Horror

A new trailer for Him, a new horror movie produced by Jordan Peele, is here, and it takes a chilling turn that no one saw coming. What starts off looking like a regular sports drama quickly dives into pure nightmare territory.

Universal Pictures dropped the teaser, and it starts by showing a rising football star, Cameron Cade, played by newcomer Tyriq Withers.

Cameron is on the edge of making it big when a terrifying encounter with a fan leaves him with a serious brain injury. Just when things seem hopeless, a legendary quarterback named Isaiah White, played by Marlon Wayans, steps in to help.

At first, Isaiah seems like a hero. He offers to train Cameron at his private compound, far away from the public eye. But the vibe changes fast. Isaiah’s smooth and charming persona slowly starts to twist into something much darker.

Him is directed by Justin Tipping and written by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie. The film was originally titled Goat, a nod to the term “greatest of all time,” and it ended up on the 2022 Black List of top unproduced scripts. Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions bought it through Universal Pictures, and production wrapped by late 2024.

Wayans plays Isaiah, a football icon with eight championships under his belt. But this isn’t your typical sports mentor story. He takes Cameron deep into a hidden world where fame, power, and control mix in disturbing ways. Julia Fox also stars as Isaiah’s wife, along with appearances from Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, and Naomi Grossman.

The trailer’s shift from a football story to horror is exactly the kind of surprise you’d expect from something Jordan Peele has a hand in. Like his earlier movies Get Out, Us, and Nope, Him brings a strange, unexpected edge to horror that goes beyond simple scares. Peele is only producing this time, but his style is all over it.

“Batman has to have a reason for existing, right?” Peele once said about storytelling. That same approach seems to guide Him—where nothing is included unless it serves a deeper purpose.

Bobby Krlic is behind the score, known for his haunting music in films like Midsommar. And judging by the tone of the teaser, his soundtrack is going to make this ride even more unsettling.

Him hits theaters on September 19, 2025.
