Chloe Bennet Opens Up About Her Ongoing Frustration With ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’
When ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ debuted in 2013, it was Marvel’s first big swing at bringing the cinematic universe to television. The series was created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, and the pilot was ordered after Joss Whedon wrote and directed ‘The Avengers’. Clark Gregg even reprised his role as Phil Coulson from the films to anchor the show.
The show ran for 7 seasons and 136 episodes, with Chloe Bennet playing Daisy Johnson, also known as Quake. She appeared in the pilot and stayed until the finale in 2020. For fans who grew up on it, the series always felt like a real piece of the larger Marvel puzzle.
That is exactly why a new comment from Bennet is trending on X. She is still low-key angry that the show isn’t considered canon to the MCU, and it quotes her saying the real followers will understand.
The comments come from a recent ELLE interview. Bennet was originally speaking to the magazine about her role in the upcoming season of ‘The White Lotus’, but the conversation turned to Marvel. When asked if she would return as Daisy if Marvel called, she said yes without hesitation.
Then came the part fans are sharing. In the post, she says the show was the first MCU TV show, and that it did 130-something hour-long episodes. She adds that the cast and crew spent a lot of time in people’s homes, and her tone suggests that the work deserves more recognition.
This isn’t the first time she has spoken up. At a Dragon Con panel earlier this year, Bennet told fans the show isn’t treated as canon, a statement that drew audible boos from the crowd. She added that she thinks the show will make some kind of random comeback someday.
Marvel Studios has never fully explained where ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ stands. According to Comic Basics, the studio has largely let the ambiguity stand, and it has quietly walked back its earlier framing in recent years. That silence keeps fueling speculation about whether the door might reopen, especially as Marvel expands its television slate across Disney+.
For now, Bennet’s message is straightforward. She isn’t asking for a reboot, only for recognition of what 136 episodes of network television meant to the people who watched and made it. Whether Marvel ever answers is another story.
