Classroom of the Elite Season 3: Release Date, Trailer, Plot, Cast & More

Classroom of the Elite started off as a series of light novels that was published between 2015 and 2019, but is currently a still-ongoing manga series with an ongoing light novel sequel series; both have been written by the series’ creator, Shōgo Kinugasa. The story follows the perspective of Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, a quiet and unassuming boy who, after meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, starts to get involved in many affairs. The series was adapted into an anime in 2017. A second season aired in 2022, with a third one projected for a 2023 release. In this article, we are going to tell you everything you need to know about the upcoming third season of Classroom of the Elite.

Classroom of the Elite season three has been officially confirmed on February 21, 2022, alongside the now-finished second season, which aired in 2022. Back then, this information had been the first piece of information about the show since its debut back in 2012. The third season is, officially, set to premiere sometime in 2023, although a precise date has not been revealed.

The rest of this article is going to bring you all the known and unknown information related to the upcoming season three of Classroom of the Elite. You’re going to find out about its release date, whether there is a trailer, what the story could be about, and much more about this intriguing anime series.

Classroom of the Elite season 3 release date

At this moment, Classroom of the Elite consists of two anime seasons, which ran from July 12, 2017 to September 27, 2017, consisting of a total of 12 episodes, and from July 4, 2022 to September 26, 2022, containing a total of 13 episodes. These episodes adapted the first seven volumes of the light novel series, whish is around 50% of the total volumes of the first light novel series (including the short story collections).

The initial series was published in 14 volumes, while the sequel is currently on 8 volumes, which means that there is more than enough material to adapt, which initially had fans hopeful that a second season would be announced soon after the end of the first season. But that wasn’t exactly the case.

Namely, Classroom of the Elite was never such a massive hit such as Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen, which aired around the same time. The series’ fandom was small, but the fans are pretty devoted and that is why the producers were so slow to announce any plans for future seasons of the show.

Still, in February 2022, almost five years after the first season ended, it was officially confirmed that Classroom of the Elite would be getting a second season, which was great news for fans of the series. The news broke quite suddenly and no one was really prepared for it, but that means that the whole thing was even better.

But, the confirmation was, as it seems, simply a short announcement, as it revealed absolutely nothing, save for the fact that a special live show dedicated to the series would air on March 6, 2022. The show was supposed to reveal more details about the upcoming season.

As we have said, the live show actually revealed a lot of new information. It was confirmed that the second season of Classroom of the Elite would premiere in July 2022, which is what we had anticipated, but we also received some additional great news. Namely, a third season of Classroom of the Elite is also going to be produced, with a 2023 scheduled release date.

After this stroll down memory lane, we can – now that the second season is practically over – once again confirm that Classroom of the Elite is coming back for a third season sometime in 2023. The second season is practically over and we’ll have to wait a bit for some official news about the third season, but the good news is that we know it’s coming back and when it is coming back.

Classroom of the Elite Season 3 dub release date

The first and second seasons of Classroom of the Elite was originally simuldubbed by Funimation and broadcast alongside the original Japanese version of the show; Funimation has since been acquired by Crunchyroll and rebranded. Now, while we don’t have a confirmation of this fact, there is nothing to suggest that Classroom of the Elite won’t, once again, be simuldubbed by Crunchyroll and that you’re going to be able to watch the dubbed version alongside the original Japanese version of the show.

Classroom of the Elite season 3 trailer

You now know all the facts and our thoughts related to Classroom of the Elite Season 3, which means that you’ve probably deduced for yourselves that there is no trailer for the third season of Classroom of the Elite. This is because is still too early for a trailer. Namely, at the time of writing, the second season has only just been completed and since the announcement regarding the third season was made earlier, there was nothing to announce at this moment, so it’s too early for a trailer.

As we have said, Classroom of the Elite is officially returning for a third season. The original light novel is still ongoing and is very popular, as is the anime adaptation, which is now has a total of two completed seasons. The third season was, as you know, confirmed and announced alongside the announcement of the second season. Having said all of this, Classroom of the Elite is currently on track for a third season, but is taking a break before the show comes back in 2023.

Taking into account everything we’ve said, a trailer for Classroom of the Elite Season 3 might come out later this year, but all of that depends on when the season is going to premiere. If it premieres earlier in 2023, a trailer is bound to appear soon, but if the premiere is planned for late 2023, we probably won’t be seeing a trailer until 2023.

Classroom of the Elite season 3 plot

At this moment, we do not know how far the third season of Classroom of the Elite could take us because we don’t know how many additional volumes of the light novel series the season could potentially adapt. Namely, due to a lack of information at the time of writing, we have absolutely no clue how far the third season of the show might go when it ends next year. What follows is an overview of the original material so you can get a rough idea of what you could expect from the series.

Kōdo Ikusei High School is considered the best educational institution in Japan. With a 100% rate of admission to the Grandes Ecoles and the assurance of finding the desired job, it constitutes Japanese excellence with ultramodern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment. In this establishment, points replace money and allow you to buy everything you want (food, games, consoles, etc.).

From day one, each student receives 100,000 points worth 100,000 yen in total. At first glance, Kōdo Ikusei High School seems like a real paradise, unfortunately, the reality is that only the Elite of students receive favorable treatment, the rest are subject to supremacy. Indeed, each month, depending on the grades and behavior of the class, it receives a number of points accordingly.

Qualified as an S system, the total number of points divides the classes into four categories, A, B, C and D, ranging from the best class to the worst. In addition, during a written exam, each student who fails to have a mark greater than or equal to half of the average of the class will be expelled from the school. During his entrance exam, for “some” reason, Kiyotaka Ayanokōji was “negligent”, or so it is believed.

He therefore finds himself assigned to class D, the lowest level of the entire establishment where all the “inferior” students have been thrown there in order to ridicule them. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, two girls in his class, Kiyotaka Ayanokōji decides to cooperate in order to improve the class’s grades, and similarly their points.

These paragraphs were a general overview of the plot of Classroom of the Elite. Now, at this moment, we have absolutely no idea how much of the original series the third season is going to adapt; if we knew the episode number, we could speculate at least a bit, but since we have no clue about the exact episode count for season three, we cannot even wager a guess in this aspect.

The only thing we know is that Volume 8 of the light novel series is going to be adapted, so we can give you a short overview of what to expect in the first episodes of the new season.

The third semester has begun and all the students of the Metropolitan High School for Advanced Education are taken to a school building deep in the mountains. The name of the special exam to be held is “Mixed Training Camp”. Separating the first year by gender into six groups. In addition, they will have to meet the second and third-year groups as well.

Finally, the students of the three groups with the highest average score will be assigned extra points while the leader of the group that arrives last will be expelled. Everyone is scared of the special exam where expulsion is on the table. And it’s up to the students to decide how they will be divided into groups. Emotional conflicts where mutual enemies will have to join hands causes a stormy situation!

Classroom of the Elite season 3 cast

The main cast of Classroom of the Elite won’t be going through many changes, at least not as far as we know. Some new characters will be introduced, that is certain, but the main cast will remain – for the most part – unchanged until the very end (of the first light novel series, at least). This is why we think that the main voice cast, since that is an unwritten rule in modern-day anime adaptations, will return for the third season, but also for all potential future seasons.

As far as the third season of Classroom of the Elite is concerned, we know that the main cast from seasons one and two will be returning, as was confirmed earlier, and here is who you can expect to hear soon:

  • Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, voiced by Shōya Chiba
He is the main protagonist. Reserved, cold and of few and accurate words, he is a young man who does not appear to be what he really is. He hides and tries to forget a shady past, since in various childhood memories of him he appears to have been in some special government training center called until now “the white room”.
  • Suzune Horikita, voiced by Akari Kitō
Ayanokouji’s bank mate. She is as cold and reserved as he is, but by her own choice. As she discovers Ayanokouji’s great hidden talent, she seeks to find out more about it, while at the same time moving up the classes.
  • Kikyou Kushida, voiced by Yurika Kubo
A popular girl who is also in class D who has a seemingly nice and cheerful personality, and also seeks to befriend everyone in the school. However, behind her cheerful and caring facade, she has an alternate personality that is violent, cold-blooded, obnoxious, and manipulative.
  • Airi Sakura, voiced by M.A.O
A young woman with low self-esteem and fond of photography and modeling, she was harassed by a salesman until she is rescued by Ayanokouji.
  • Yousuke Hirata, voiced by Ryōta Ōsaka He is the leader of class D. He is an optimistic young man who cares about his group, as well as having quite a few skills. However, in situations he relies on advice from both Ayanokouji and Horikita. Karuizawa’s boyfriend.
  • Ken Sudou, Kanji Ike and Haruki Yamauchi, voiced by Eiji Takeuchi, Daiki Abe and Mutsuki Iwanaka respectively.
They are the “losers” of the class. Sudou has great sports skills, both Ike and Yamauchi do not have great qualities but neither excels in academic skills. Sudou, especially, is the most hot-tempered and has come close to expulsion the most times, continually being saved by Ayanokouji and Horikita.

Where to watch Classroom of the Elite season 3?

The first and secons seasons of the show were available on Crunchyroll (in subbed format) and Funimation (in dubbed format). Since these two services usually stream anime, there is no doubt that they will offer the second season for their viewers as well. We just don’t know whether the dub will be released simultaneously or not, but we think that it will.

Will there be a Classroom of the Elite season 4?

The future of Classroom of the Elite is, as of this moment, unknown. At this moment, we don’t really know anything about the future of the series, so whether we’ll be seeing a fourth season or not is still unknown. The series has been doing impressively well, and since the currently-released seasons definitely did not adapt the whole light novel series, which is still ongoing, by the way, and that is definitely a good sign for fans of Classroom of the Elite, but we are going to have to wait and see how the situation with season three evolves to know more about a potential season four. However, it is likely from this perspective.
