Could Mephisto be The Hidden Villain Behind the Multiverse Saga?

Share:

Mephisto’s presence in the MCU was confirmed in the 2012 movie Avengers, but we really learned about him in Agatha All Along, where he was mentioned by name.

Now, it looks like the MCU has plans for him. Mephisto is set to have a smaller role in the upcoming Ironheart show, with Sacha Baron Cohen reportedly playing him. There are also theories connecting him to various projects, including Doomsday and a planned Wonder Man show.

In fact, the situation might be so complex that Mephisto could be seen as the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, linked to Incursions and Doctor Doom, manipulating events from behind the scenes.

Mephisto is one of the most powerful beings in Marvel Comics, ruling his own dimension. Although his hellish realm isn’t connected to the main universe, he can’t resist getting involved in human affairs and always looks for ways to cause chaos.

One of the biggest connections Mephisto might have with upcoming Multiversal projects is the Multiversal Masters of Evil. This team is rumored to appear in Doomsday, possibly replacing the Council of Kangs mentioned in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The story of the Multiversal Masters of Evil starts with Doom Supreme, who has already achieved a lot in his own timeline. He became both Sorcerer Supreme and Necromancer Supreme, ruling his reality in very harsh ways.

However, he eventually got bored. He then decided to travel back in time to kill the prehistoric Avengers. But this task was harder than he expected, so he recruited various evil versions of himself from different timelines.

Doom Supreme traveled back to 1,000,000 BC and met Mephisto, who suggested forming a team of supervillains because the prehistoric Avengers were much harder to beat than he thought. This team would be called the Multiversal Masters of Evil.

The plan was to take down the prehistoric Avengers across the Multiverse, saving Earth-616 for last. Even though Doom Supreme knew Mephisto had a shady agenda, he was interested and agreed to join.

Doom liked the idea and recruited a group of villains, including Kid Thanos, Dark Phoenix and her Berserkers, King Killmonger, Ghost Goblin (Norman Osborn), and the Black Skull.

It’s likely that the MCU won’t adapt this team exactly as it is in the comics since the story might not fit the current storyline. However, it’s still possible that Mephisto approached Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom in his own reality and proposed creating the Multiversal Masters of Evil to defeat the MCU superheroes so that Mephisto could take over Earth more easily.

There’s also a chance that Mephisto might manipulate Doom until Doom eventually turns against him, just like in the original story.

There’s also a rumor that the Council of Red might be introduced in the MCU. The Council of Red is a group made up of different versions of Mephisto. They joined forces to rewrite all the universes using the First Firmament and helped the Multiversal Masters of Evil with their plans.

Previous rumors said that Doomsday might include parts of the Avengers Assemble/Avengers: Forever event. This storyline features the Council of Red and a team of Avengers working together to stop the destruction of existence, which could lead to the creation of the Multiversal Masters of Evil.
