Juan Carlos Osorio, 41, a rigger from Temple City, tragically lost his life in an accident at Radford Studio Center while working on Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ television series. The incident occurred on a Tuesday morning when Osorio fell from the rafters. Although the accident happened on set, filming was not in progress at the time. Law enforcement officials have ruled out foul play. Additionally, a spokesperson from Marvel has released a statement regarding the incident.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident.

In a statement issued, IATSE President Matthew D. Loeb described the crew member’s death as a “tragic loss.”

Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues. Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can. If you feel unsafe on set for any reason, members can call the IATSE Safety Hotline at 844-422-9273 or use our safety info app.

After widespread speculation of cancellation, production on ‘Wonder Man’ recently resumed. The delays were reportedly attributed to strikes, a trend seen across several anticipated projects. For instance, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is undergoing reworking, while ‘Deadpool 3’ was nearly completed before filming had to cease. Additionally, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ required extensive reshoots post-strike to enhance fight scenes compared to previous Captain America movies.

Rumors suggest that the ‘Wonder Man’ show is set to undergo significant revisions, aligning with the current trend within the MCU. This shift follows the fan backlash and underperformance at the box office of several 2023 projects, with ‘Marvel’ notably becoming the lowest-grossing MCU movie to date.
