Daniela Melchior on Reprising Her Role in Gunn’s DCU: “Ratcatcher 2 Is Taking a Nap Right Now but I Can’t Wait to Wake Her Up”

After facing several disappointing releases, the DCEU underwent a significant overhaul, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. They aim to soft-reboot the entire cinematic universe. Fans hoped that some actors and characters from the DCEU would carry over to the new DCU, but only ‘Blue Beetle’ and ‘Peacemaker’ are confirmed for such transitions. Gunn has additional plans for these characters and actors. Currently, multiple projects are in development for the DCU.

One of the divisive movies in the DCEU was ‘The Suicide Squad,’ which didn’t make the cut for further development. Daniela Melchior, who played Ratcatcher 2 in the film, addressed her potential return to Gunn’s DCU in an interview with Nestor Cine. She expressed her interest in reprising her role as Ratcatcher 2 but also mentioned she’s open to exploring other characters.

I’m open to explore another character, but I’m also open to explore more Ratcatcher 2 background, or even like, her future. I’ve been saying that Ratcatcher 2 is taking a nap right now but I can’t wait to wake her up.

‘The Suicide Squad’ may have concluded, but there’s a chance for Daniela to return in ‘Peacemaker,’ given her character’s appearance in Season 1 through flashbacks. However, it’s unclear if Ratcatcher 2 is part of the established DCU, as Gunn specified that only the second season of the show will be canon, with the transition to the new universe happening then.
