What do we know about Season 2 of DAYS ?

The manga DAYS, written and drawn by Yasuda Tsuyoshi, was published from April 24, 2013 to January 20, 2021 in the magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The first bound volume was published by Kōdansha on July 17, 2013. A spin-off series titled DAYS Gaiden, drawn by Saori Otowa, has been published since October 2016 on the Magazine Pocket app.

The anime adaptation was announced in August 2015. The series was produced at MAPPA studio by Kōnosuke Uda, with compositions by Yoshihiro Ike. It was broadcast from July 2, 2016 on MBS in Japan. Two OVAs were marketed with volumes 21 and 22 of the manga in March and May 2017 respectively. So, what does all of this tell us about a potential second season of DAYS?

As you can see, the future of the DAYS anime is quite uncertain, but not because there’s no interest or lack of material. The series was fairly popular back in the day, but it’s been six years and since anime series usually run while there’s a need to promote the written materials, the chances are very slim.

DAYS

The original manga series ended only last year, so there is no need to promote anything else; but, as the manga ended relatively recently, the producers might still find the idea intriguing. Now, all of this doesn’t completely exclude the possibility of another season, but the chances are slimmer so we’ll just have to see whether there is enough interest for a continuation to make any proper predictions about the potential continuation of the series. The first season received solid reviews, but we simply don’t know enough to make any predictions on the show’s future.

In any case, the earliest we could see a potential second season is late 2023, but we’d have to get some confirmation on the future during 2022 or easily 2023; 2024 is also a strong possibility. The fans are demanding a new season, but we’ll just have to see how it goes; as far as things stand now, a cancelation has not been confirmed, but we cannot rule it out either. It all depends on the future so we’ll just have to wait.

What could Season 2 of DAYS be about?

At this moment, we do not know how far the second season of DAYS could take us because we don’t know how many additional chapters of the original manga series the season could potentially adapt; it could be the whole series or just a part of it. Namely, due to a lack of information in general, we have absolutely no clue how far the second season might go if it even happens.
