DCEU Star Teases Major Comeback in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2: “It’s definitely a more epic storyline”

James Gunn and Peter Safran are working hard to create a new cinematic universe based on DC Comics characters, following the troubled DCEU. One of the major projects to continue after the “reset” is Gunn’s own Peacemaker, which is returning for a second season as part of the new DCU.

DC Studios Co-CEO confirmed that Peacemaker Season 2 will be included in the DCU canon. He reassured fans that the transition from the DCEU to the DCU, especially for Peacemaker, will be smooth and easy to follow without confusion.

As a result, some characters from the DCEU, including Steve Agee, who played John Economos in The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, will continue in the new universe.

Agee, who will also be in Creature Commandos, spoke about his future role in a somewhat mysterious way:

I don’t know what’s going on beyond Creature Commandos in season 2 of Peacemaker – I’m in Savannah, Georgia, right now shooting season 2. We’re almost done, I should be done on Monday, and that’s the end of the season. So beyond that, I don’t know what’s in store for Economos. There’s a lot I wish I could tell you, [laughs] but you’ll have to tune into the shows!

Agee hinted that Peacemaker season 2 will feature a bigger, more epic storyline within the larger DC Universe. He also promised that more characters would be included in the new season.

It’s definitely a more epic storyline. More characters are involved this time, and it’s a massive story in a massive world. I think anyone who likes season 1 is going to love season 2.

Gunn recently clarified the canonicity of Peacemaker Season 1. He confirmed that almost the entire season is canon, except for the Justice League. He explained that nothing is officially part of the new continuity unless it appears in Creature Commandos or any future DCU projects.

Now in Creature Commandos, you’ll hear them talk about things that happened in [The] Suicide Squad or Peacemaker, well then, those things automatically become canon.

The truth is almost all of Peacemaker is canon with the exception of Justice League… which we will kind of deal with in the next season of Peacemaker,”
