‘Death Note: The Musical’ Confirms New Run in November

Although it is more or less one relatively short standalone story, Death Note is a cult classic manga and anime that is, for many, a synonym for the industry as a whole. The authors managed to create a compelling story, and the fans have embraced it.
Of course, Death Note has since been franchised, so we’ve gotten some additional stories, as well as derivative works inspired by the original manga, which helped expand the story’s popularity among the fans.
Among these derivative works is the Death Note: The Musical, which is getting a new run this Fall!
Death Note: The Musical was composed by American composer Frank Wildhorn and written by Jack Murphy. It had its premiere in 2015 in Tokyo and has since received numerous adaptations all around the world.
Wildhorn’s social media account has just confirmed that the musical will be coming back later this year:
The musical will be shown in Tokyo this November and it will be a special anniversary run to celebrate the musical’s 10th birthday. We can confirm that Megumi Hamada will reprise her role as Rem from the musical’s first run in 2015, while Kenji Urai, who played Light Yagami in the first run, returns as Ryuk. As for the new cast members, they are:
- Kato Seishiro and Ao Watanabe as Light Yagami (double cast)
- Hiroki Miura as L
- Riho Sayashi as Misa Amane
- Riko of Jpop group HUNNY BEE as Sayu Yagami
- Kiyotaka Imai as Sōichirō Yagami
The exact dates will be announced at a later date.
