A new movie that brings together two well-known characters is now moving forward in Hollywood. Sony Pictures is developing a crossover film that will unite Django and Zorro in one story.

The screenplay is being handled by Brian Helgeland, an Oscar-winning writer known for films like Mystic River and L.A. Confidential. The project is still in early development, but it is based on an existing comic book story.

The idea comes from a comic series released in 2014, created by Quentin Tarantino and Matt Wagner. That story followed Django after the events of Django Unchained, continuing his life as a bounty hunter. In the comic, he meets Zorro, also known as Don Diego de la Vega, and the two characters form a partnership while going after criminals.

Tarantino, who directed Django Unchained, is not set to direct this new film. However, reports say he supports the project moving forward. The movie will instead continue the story in a new direction under Helgeland’s writing.

Zorro has appeared on screen before, including in The Mask of Zorro, where the older Don Diego trains a new hero to take over the role. The crossover film is expected to build on this legacy while mixing it with Django’s story.

The project had been discussed in the past but did not move forward at the time. Now, with the rights sorted out, development has started again. There are still no details about casting or a release date.

At the same time, Tarantino is busy with other work. He is preparing what is expected to be his final film as a director and also working on a stage project. Other related projects connected to his previous films are also in development, but he is not directing this crossover.

This crossover could be very exciting if done well. Both Django and Zorro are strong characters with different styles, and combining them could create something fresh. At the same time, it will need the right story to make it work. What do you think about this idea? Are you excited to see Django and Zorro together, or does it feel like an unusual mix?
