Doctor Doom Has Taken Over Google, and the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Easter Egg Is One Marvel Fans Need To Try
Marvel has a long history of turning ordinary corners of the internet into playgrounds for its villains, and the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ campaign is keeping that tradition alive. Ahead of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, Google rolled out one of its most famous Easter eggs, letting users search for Thanos and click the Infinity Gauntlet to watch half of their search results disintegrate into dust. Clicking the Gauntlet again brought everything back, much to the delight of fans at the time.
Josh Brolin even joined in on the fun back then, sharing his amusement on Instagram and declaring it International Thanos Day. Years later, with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom set to face off against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes on December 18, it seems Google has a new villain ready to take the spotlight.
Now, fans have discovered a brand-new Google Easter egg for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. One Doctor Doom fan account shared a clip of the trick in action, revealing that Doom does his own magic trick when users type “avengers doomsday” into Google’s search bar. The post quickly caught on, with fans rushing to try it out for themselves.
According to GamesRadar, a quick search for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ followed by a click on Doom’s mask will warp the search results. The animation brings up Doom’s gauntlets reaching out toward 4 logos: Black Panther, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers.
Completing the interaction comes with a satisfying payoff. Once users finish the sequence, they’re treated to a real-time Doomsday clock ticking down the seconds until the film’s release.

The 4 logos featured in the Easter egg weren’t chosen at random. The first 4 ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ teasers revolved around those exact groups, hinting that each will play a major yet distinctive role in the crossover. It’s a clever way of reinforcing the film’s sprawling scope, which brings together heroes from 3 distinct universes.
Some fans have taken the Easter egg as a hint about who is in Doom’s sights. GamesRadar noted that the villain already seems to be collecting Marvel heroes like Infinity Stones, from Hulk to a possible Spider-Man connection teased in the ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ post-credits scene. Still, even a quick search hasn’t fully revealed Marvel’s plans just yet.

The Google trick is just the latest in a long line of creative promotions for the film. Marvel launched a “DOOMSDAY CLOCK” YouTube stream back in January, and has since rolled out a Doctor Doom-themed pop-up coffee shop filled with Easter eggs about the villain’s origins. At New York Comic Con, the studio showcased a Formula 1-themed race car alongside character costumes, including Doom’s own suit.
Fans have even spotted smaller nods hidden in other Marvel projects. A DVD case labeled “Countdown to Doom” appeared in Ultron’s room in the second episode of ‘VisionQuest’, sparking speculation about whether the series connects to the upcoming crossover.

With the film opening in under 2 months, Marvel’s promotional campaign is clearly ramping up. A new look at ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is also set to debut during Game 1 of the World Series, giving fans even more to look forward to.
For now, the Google Easter egg offers a fun, interactive way to pass the time while waiting for Doom’s arrival. Much like Thanos’ famous snap, it’s the kind of small surprise that turns a routine search into a genuine fan moment.
