Doctor Doom Towers Over the Heroes in a New International ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Poster

With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ less than 2 months away, Marvel’s international campaign is picking up speed. The Russo brothers’ film brings heroes from 3 universes together against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, and a steady stream of posters has kept the villain at the center of the marketing.

Recent releases have included premium format artwork for RealD 3D, 4DX and Dolby Cinema, as well as an Italian poster revealed at Lucca Comics & Games that paired Doom with the mutant-hunting Sentinels. Each one has leaned on the same eerie green glow that defines the film’s look.

The newest international poster features one of the busiest compositions yet. A hooded Doctor Doom stands front and center in his armor and flowing green cloak, framed by an army of heroes rising up behind him.

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor appears to the left holding a hammer, while Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers stands to the right, also gripping a hammer of his own. Masked, armored figures loom above, and a small group of silhouetted fighters gathers on the battleground at the bottom of the frame.

The text is in traditional Chinese characters and labels the film as ‘Avengers 5’. It lists a December 16 release, presented as an early global debut. That date matches what other international materials have shown. Disney has confirmed China will get the film on December 16, and posters from Italy and Korea list the same date.

North American audiences will have to wait until December 18. Marvel hasn’t released a full global schedule yet, but it now looks clear that many markets around the world will see the film first.

The decision to keep Doom at the center fits the film’s marketing so far. Since Marvel announced Downey’s casting at Hall H in July 2024 with the tagline “New mask, same task,” the studio has consistently sold Doom as the ultimate threat rather than a potential ally.

His look has also inspired merchandise around the world, from glowing popcorn buckets at Cinemark Brasil to Funko Pops. The film’s Funko collection includes a Steve Rogers figure wielding Mjolnir, a detail that lines up with Evans’ pose on this new poster.

The film boasts a huge ensemble. Alongside Evans and Hemsworth, the cast includes Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd and Letitia Wright.

The Fantastic Four join the fight with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. X-Men veterans Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden and Kelsey Grammer return as well.

The film also features the final screen performance of Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Stewart died at 86 on October 28, giving his return a deeply emotional significance for fans.

Presales have reportedly passed $125 million, and the film shares its U.S. opening day with ‘Dune: Part Three’, a matchup fans have nicknamed “Dunesday.” Marvel’s final trailer is expected in mid-November.

Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay, and the Russos will also direct ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, set for December 17, 2027. With every new poster, the stakes of Doom’s arrival seem to grow.
