Doctor Doom’s Glowing Eyes Steal the Show in a New Look at ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Popcorn Buckets
Movie theater collectibles have become their own fan event, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is shaping up to be one of the biggest merch moments of the year. With Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, theater chains around the world are turning the iconic villain into buckets, cups, and display pieces.
The film, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, opens in U.S. theaters on December 18. Its promotional campaign has leaned heavily on Doom’s imposing look, from Funko Pops to light-up masks, and theater concessions have quickly become part of that push.
Now fans have a fresh look at the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ popcorn buckets and collectible cup. A new video shared online gives a close-up view of Doctor Doom’s metal mask, showing the detail fans have been hoping for.
The footage highlights the riveted silver faceplate framed by Doom’s sculpted green hood, which features an intricate textured pattern. The standout detail is the glowing green light behind the eye slit, giving the piece an unsettling, lifelike look.

The design closely resembles the light-up Doom head bucket already revealed by Cinemark Brasil. Its glowing eyes have made it a favorite with collectors since it first appeared earlier this month.

Brazil has been at the center of the excitement. Cinemark Brasil’s lineup includes the hooded Doom head bucket, a drink cup shaped like Doom’s throne, a metallic Doom bucket, and a limited pin made with Iron Studios, with presales starting October 29.
Other chains have joined in as well. Cinépolis Brasil teased a sculpted Doom bust, Cineflix Cinemas revealed a hooded helmet bucket and a glowing “A” bucket, and Spain’s Cine Yelmo is offering a Doom bust bucket and a hooded head cup.
Latin America has plenty more on the way. Cineplanet Chile has a bust-topped cup, Argentina’s Cinemacenter teased a throne-shaped LED bucket, and CineStar Guatemala will sell a lidded Doom bucket during preview screenings on December 16.

American fans may have to wait. As of mid-October, no U.S. chain had officially announced an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ popcorn bucket or collectible cup. The only Doom item available so far through U.S. chains is a light-up Doctor Doom mask, priced at $29.99 for pre-order through AMC’s and Regal’s online stores. Cinemark’s U.S. shop is promoting a similar light-up mask.
Some confusion online came from a tagging mix-up that linked Cinemark Brasil’s bucket to Cinemark’s U.S. account. Based on past releases, U.S. bucket reveals could come closer to opening day, possibly in mid-to-late November, though that’s only an estimate. Doctor Doom’s look practically begs to be turned into merchandise. His metal mask, flowing green hood, and regal throne all translate naturally into eye-catching collectibles.
Downey’s casting has added even more interest. Marvel revealed his return as Doom at Hall H in July 2024 with the tagline “New mask, same task,” and the reveal has made the villain one of the most talked-about parts of the MCU’s next chapter.

With the film just weeks away, theater merchandise is likely to keep rolling out. The Russo brothers’ sequel brings together a huge ensemble, including Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, and Ian McKellen.
For collectors, the hunt for Doom buckets has already started. If the glowing green eyes in this latest look are any indication, these pieces could become some of the most sought-after movie collectibles of the year.
