The rivalry between DC and Marvel will never disappear, at least when it comes to hardcore fans of one or the other. But, that never bothered filmmakers, actors, and other people who worked on the movies of either or both of these comic book houses. We already have numerous actors and directors who worked on both Marvel and DC movies and/or TV shows.

Zachary Levi, who played Fandral in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World and 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, made his DC debut as Shazam in 2019’s homonymous movie directed by David F. Sandberg. The movie received positive reviews, not only from critics and the audience, but also from Sam Raimi, who is known for directing the original Spider-Man trilogy, and currently the latest MCU movie — Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

“I was really impressed with Shazam!, I couldn’t believe they made a successful movie out of that character. It was really fun and funny.” — Sam Raimi

One of the fans shared this from one of Raimi’s recent interviews on Twitter, and Sandberg replied “This made my day, thank you for letting me know!”

Sandberg is currently working on Shazam! Fury of the Gods, a sequel to the original movie scheduled to be released on December 21, 2022. Sam Raimi finished his work on the Doctor Strange sequel, but who knows, maybe Marvel will call him again for Doctor Strange 3 or some other project. We can only hope.
