Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir is one of the most popular animated superhero magical television series in the last few years. This French series has five seasons aired today, bringing us some interesting resolutions in one particular episode in the popular animated series of Season Four. We know that Marinette and Adrien are the main characters and heroes of the Parisian streets. Still, Luka Couffaine is another one who became quite prominent since his first appearance in the second season. This article will discuss whether Luka knows Ladybug’s and Cat Noir’s true identities.
Luka Couffaine, firstly a superhero named Viperion, then Silencer and Truth, accidentally found out the true identities of Ladybug and Cat Noir in the 18th episode of Season Four. After the supervillain Wishmaker comes to Paris to make every person’s childhood dreams come true, they end up detrimental to their lives and wreak havoc around the capital city of France. Marinette and Adrien don’t know that Luka knows about their secret since Luka, as Viperion, used Second Chance to turn back time. After Luka casts the ability, Luka still knows their true identities but still wholeheartedly respects their privacy and their tightly held secret.

Introduction of Luka Couffaine
Before we get into the topic of this article, let’s introduce the character of Luka Couffaine, which features in the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. He was first introduced in the second season of the series in the 9th episode as a background character. Luka is introduced as a classmate of Marinette and Adrien, who participates in the video where the duo had to play their secret identities, Ladybug and Cat Noir. Since then, Luka slowly but surely became one of Marinette’s more important friends and the potential love interest. He is the older twin brother of Juleka Couffaine, who attracts the attention of Marinette.
He later becomes part of the Miraculous gang and carries the mantle of a few superheroes – Viperion, Silencer, and Truth. Luka is a sweet, reserved, and kind person who cares immensely for his friends, and he shows his love quite a lot throughout the series. Luka is generally a nice person who attracts many people with his genuinely kind personality, which Marinette has loved from the beginning. Of course, even kind Luka can lose his calm, especially if his friends are threatened.
Regarding Miraculous business, Luka closely works with Ladybug and Cat Noir and uses his abilities to protect the city of Paris. Luka is one of the holders of Miraculous rings, powerful artifacts that transform the wearers (with the help of Kwamis) into superpowered beings. More specifically, Luka bears the Snake Miraculous, which was bestowed on Luka by Ladybug herself. Luka was the best bearer of the Snake Miraculous, which Adrien/Cat Noir confirmed multiple times.
The ring holds the ability Second Chance which is essentially a time-warping power that lets the bearer activate it and rewind the time at the marked moment. Snake Miraculous user (in this case, Luka) retains all memories of what happened before the time was reversed. Even after Luka used the ability, the time is still marked if he decides to use the ability once again. The bearer can use the Second Chance as much as they want, but the marked timeline is lost if not used after five minutes.
Of course, every ability has a weakness, and Second Chance is no different. If someone knows of the time-warping ability, one can stop the bearer from using it. Not many individuals know of the Second Chance ability, but it happened in the series when Viperion was captured and unable to cast the time-warping power.
Ring’s ability Second Chance is really important in the series, but in the context of the article as well. In the next section of the article, we will explain if Luka knows the true identities of Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Does Luka know the true identities of Ladybug and Cat Noir?
As a superhero, one always wants to keep their identity safe and secure because of one reason or another. In Miraculous Ladybug, the heroes keep their identities under wraps to save their city from dangerous enemies. In Season Four, episode 18th, called “Wishmaker,” the identities of our main heroes, Ladybug and Cat Noir, were revealed in a really unfortunate manner.
All the characters are struggling with their identities and are looking for a job that will fulfill them in the future and give them “a meaning of life.” Of course, the problem our teenage heroes are struggling with escalates further in the episode when Luka Couffaine, as Viperion, discovers that his Miraculous compatriots Ladybug and Cat Noir are actually Marinette and Adrien.
Luka feels guilty and is shocked upon the revelation but still keeps the truth under wraps to protect his friends, especially after his heartfelt talk with Marinette. Their talk about future careers and the satisfaction the work can bring to people later includes Adrien, who is still undecided on what to do with his life. The conversation between the trio appeases both Marinette and Adrien, who feel much better after their talk with Luka.
In the end, Luka finds out who Ladybug and Cat Noir are, and he feels guilty about it since he doesn’t like to lie to his friends.
How Luka found out about Ladybug and Cat Noir’s identities?
The episode “Wishmakers” sees our main heroes struggling to find their true future calling and something they will do long-term. Each character deals with their dilemma – Marinette doesn’t know what she will do in the future and is looking for the “meaning of life,” while Adrien is sad and realizes he is only in the modeling business because of his father.
While Marinette and Adrien are looking for the meaning of life, Alec Cataldi welcomes his audience to his show, where he is trying to make childhood dreams come true. He thinks if people follow their childhood dreams, they will be happier.
However, he doesn’t understand the chaos and silliness the childhood dreams bring. Wishmaker kickstarts chaos in Paris, and Miraculous heroes come to protect the city from crazy Wishmaker. Ladybug gives Viperion a Snake Miraculous to use the Second Chance ability to turn back time if she and Cat Noir are in trouble.
After Wishmaker and Shadow Moth are defeated, the dynamic duo did not know that Viperion found out about their true identities and had to turn back time twice to prevent the villains from learning the truth. After preventing Wishmaker and Shadow Moth from learning about Ladybug’s and Cat Noir’s identities, Luka feels guilty.
After the fight, Ladybug asks him if someone knows their secret, and he denies it. Luka once again proved his loyalty and kindness to his friends, whose secret identity information could’ve led to dangerous consequences, especially if Shadow Moth discovered that his son is Cat Noir and his biggest enemy.
