Does Poindexter (Bullseye) Know Who Daredevil Is in Daredevil: Born Again? Explained

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is buzzing with excitement as ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ brings back some familiar faces to our screens. This latest chapter, dives deep into the gritty world of Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer turned vigilante known as Daredevil. Played by Charlie Cox, he’s once again facing off against old foes in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen. Among them is a standout villain – Benjamin ‘Dex’ Poindexter, better known to comic lovers as Bullseye.

Wilson Bethel slips back into the role of this sharpshooting menace, a character we first met in season three of the original ‘Daredevil’ series on Netflix. Back then, Dex was an FBI agent with a troubled mind, manipulated by the crime lord Wilson Fisk—brought to life by Vincent D’Onofrio—into becoming a twisted version of Daredevil himself.

That season ended with a brutal showdown, leaving Dex with a shattered spine and a teaser of his transformation into the Bullseye we know from the comics. Now, he’s back in ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ and his return kicks things off with a bang—literally.

Right from the first episode, Dex makes a bloody statement by taking out Foggy Nelson, Matt’s best friend and legal partner, played by Elden Henson. It’s a gut punch that sends Matt into a rage, hurling Dex off a rooftop in a moment of raw fury. But here’s the thing that’s got us scratching our heads—why Foggy?

And does Dex even know he’s targeting the people closest to Daredevil? To figure this out, we need to look at what he knew back in the Netflix days. In season three, Dex was clueless about Matt being Daredevil. He went after folks like Karen Page, played by Deborah Ann Woll, because Fisk pointed him that way, not because he had the full picture.

Fast forward to ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ and the stakes feel different. Dex storms into Josie’s Bar and guns down Foggy with chilling precision, suggesting there’s more to his motives than random chaos. He doesn’t just know Daredevil’s identity—he’s hitting Matt where it hurts most. How did he find out Matt Murdock is the masked hero?

The show doesn’t spell it out in the early episodes, but hints drop like breadcrumbs. Between season three and now, Dex underwent experimental surgery to fix his spine with a metal called Cogmium, waking up with a bullseye glint in his eye. Maybe that time off-screen gave him a chance to dig into Daredevil’s secrets—or someone fed him the truth.

Another twist comes in episode eight, when we learn Vanessa Fisk, portrayed by Ayelet Zurer, ordered the hit on Foggy. As Wilson Fisk’s wife and a growing power player, she’s got her own reasons to strike at Matt’s world. Dex, now a full-on Bullseye with a slick new costume, seems to be her weapon of choice.

This implies he’s not just a lone psycho anymore—he’s a hired gun who’s been clued in. Whether he pieced it together himself or got the intel from the Fisks, one thing’s clear: Dex knows Matt is Daredevil, and he’s using that knowledge to tear his life apart.

The how and when of Dex’s discovery might still be murky, but the impact is crystal. After Foggy’s death, Matt ditches the Daredevil suit for a while, focusing on lawyering with his new partner Kirsten McDuffie, played by Nikki M. James.

Yet, Bullseye’s return in later episodes pulls him back into the fight. Bethel’s take on Dex is as creepy as ever, with his uncanny aim—amped up by superhuman vision from that surgery—making him a nightmare to face. Comics fans will spot nods to Bullseye’s classic blue look, a far cry from the fake Daredevil getup he wore before.

So, yeah, Dex knows who’s behind the mask, and it’s personal. Whether he’s settling a score from season three or dancing to Vanessa’s tune, his actions scream intent. I can’t help but wonder what’s next—will he go after Karen too?
