New Deal Between Disney & Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Just Raised His Chances of Playing Apocalypse in the MCU Significantly

Recently, ‘Variety’ reported that Seven Bucks Productions, founded by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia, has signed a first-look deal with The Walt Disney Company to develop films for theaters and streaming. This multi-year agreement allows Seven Bucks to collaborate across all Disney divisions, with potential projects starring Johnson.

In November, Dwayne Johnson will return as demigod Maui in “Moana 2,” the sequel to the Oscar-nominated 2016 animated film. Additionally, this deal could lead to Johnson starring in another Disney project, the upcoming ‘X-Men’ reboot.

A few months ago, there were rumors that the studio was considering ‘Black Adam’ star Dwayne Johnson for the role of X-Men villain Apocalypse. These rumors were never confirmed, but now that Johnson’s production company has a strong deal with Disney, it could happen.

Nothing is known about the ‘X-Men’ reboot yet, except that the studio wants a POC director and plans to include characters not yet seen in live action. There are rumors that Jordan Peele is in talks to direct it.

The Rock is familiar with superhero roles, having recently starred in ‘Black Adam.’ Despite his strong performance, the movie was a box-office flop, signaling the end of the DCEU as we know it. Johnson, a major name in the industry, could still be a great fit for the role of Apocalypse and attract audiences to theaters.

Johnson has shown he can fully commit to a superhero role, and he naturally has that intimidating “villain” appearance. If there’s one thing Apocalypse is known for, it’s his imposing presence on screen.

However, Johnson’s production company has faced controversies. Recently, it was revealed that Johnson attempted to use a film to gain control of the DCEU, resulting in Gunn and Safran being hired and Henry Cavill parting ways with his agent.

The partnership between Johnson and Disney sets the stage for intriguing developments. What are your thoughts? Share in the comments below!
