Elizabeth Olsen Forgets Voicing Scarlet Witch in Marvel Zombies—Wait, What?

For fans of the MCU, Elizabeth Olsen is best known for portraying Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch. She first appeared as the character in Captain America: The Winter Soldier back in 2014, meaning she has been playing the role for over a decade. Her most recent appearance was a voice role in What If…? The Avengers Assembled in 1602.

Although Scarlet Witch’s fate in the MCU remains uncertain—she is presumed dead—Olsen is set to return as the character in the upcoming Marvel Zombies four-episode miniseries. This time, she will be voicing a zombified, villainous variant of Scarlet Witch. However, the surprising twist? Olsen has no memory of recording the role at all.

When asked about her upcoming role, the actress appeared visibly confused at the mention of Marvel Zombies while speaking to a reporter.

I feel like I did that a few years ago. No, but I don’t remember any of these things. I don’t know when they released them because animation takes a long time.

Olsen is likely correct in assuming that she recorded her lines several years ago, as Marvel Zombies was first announced in 2021. The series underwent an unusually long development process and is now set to premiere on Disney+ on October 3 of this year—marking a four-year gap between its announcement and release.

Given this lengthy timeline, it’s understandable that Olsen doesn’t remember much about the project, especially considering she remains an active actress with many roles outside the MCU.

Marvel Zombies takes place in an alternate timeline where many Marvel heroes and villains have been turned into zombies. The show follows a group of survivors as they struggle to fight off the undead versions of former allies and enemies. Set to premiere on October 3, 2025, it will be Marvel’s first TV-MA animated series and part of Phase Six of the MCU.
