Famke Janssen Talks About Returning as Jean Grey in ‘Deadpool 3: “Everybody Keeps Asking”
The original cast of Fox’s ‘X-Men’ films will forever be linked with some of Marvel’s most beloved characters. When you think of Storm, Halle Berry immediately comes to mind, and Patrick Stewart is synonymous with Charles Xavier. Famke Janssen, who played the iconic Jean Grey, remains the definitive live-action portrayal, even though Sophie Turner took on the role in later films.
As the release of ‘Deadpool 3’ approaches and rumors swirl about former X-Men characters returning for Deadpool’s MCU debut, fans can’t help but speculate if Famke will reprise her role as Jean Grey too.
The actress herself commented on the rumors in her interview with Screengeek.
I’m not in [Deadpool & Wolverine]. No. Everybody keeps asking. So, at some point, I was like, ‘Wait, am I in Deadpool, and I just don’t know it yet?’ But, no. I’m not. No, no.
Recently, James Marsden, who played Cyclops, mentioned that people often approach him on the streets to ask if he’ll be in the movie, though he remained vague about it. Jean Grey is arguably Janssen’s most iconic role, but her career shows no signs of slowing down.
Famke Janssen’s notable roles include Serleena in ‘Men in Black II’ (2002), Ava Moore in ‘Nip/Tuck’ (second season), and Lenore Mills in the ‘Taken’ film series (2012, 2014). She made her directorial debut with ‘Bringing Up Bobby’ (2011) and starred as Olivia Godfrey in ‘Hemlock Grove’ (Netflix series). Janssen also had recurring roles in ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ and ‘The Blacklist: Redemption,’ and appeared in films like ‘The Postcard Killings’ (2020) and ‘Redeeming Love’ (2021).
