James Marsden on His Return as Cyclops in ‘Deadpool 3’: “It Would Be Fun”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is currently the most anticipated MCU movie, and it’s the only one slated for release in 2024 as of now. Sources have already indicated that the film is fantastic and aims to rekindle excitement in the MCU. One reason for the buzz is Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, a role he seemingly retired after ‘Logan.’ Another reason is Deadpool’s debut in the MCU, having previously been part of Fox’s X-Men universe.

Rumors are swirling that prominent X-Men villains and members may make appearances, along with speculation about Taylor Swift’s role, which even Ryan Reynolds has hinted at while remaining tight-lipped. After Jennifer Garner’s Elektra return confirmation and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine comeback, fans are now eyeing another beloved character, Marsden’s Cyclops, from previous Marvel movies.

Marsden recently discussed his future career and potential projects with ‘The Playlist.’ While remaining secretive about reprising his role as Cyclops in ‘Deadpool 3,’ he did share his thoughts on whether Cyclops and Deadpool would get along:

No I think those two are opposites, but I think they would respect eachother. You know I keep hearing about it, I can’t walk down the street without someone asking me, so evidently, there’s chatter about that, yeah. It would be fun.

Later, Marsden confirmed that he was near the stage where ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was filming but due to shooting ‘Sonic 3’:

We just wrapped. We were near the Deadpool stages actually over there in Pinewood. Yeah, this is a little bit of a Pandora’s box.

Whether Marsden appears in the movie or not, fans still have a lot to anticipate with his upcoming projects. ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ is set to release on December 1, 2024, and Marsden is pleased with the work he has done so far.
