Fans Displeased as ‘X-Men ’97’ Announces New Writer and Season 2 Script Update: “Whatever Beau DeMayo did to get fired must be really bad”

Just days before the season 1 premiere, Beau DeMayo, the head writer for ‘X-Men ’97’, was fired from Disney, with no official reason given. Speculations ranged from DeMayo’s involvement with an OnlyFans account to rumors of his difficult personality.

Despite his departure, the show became a massive hit, consistently achieving high ratings. Much of this success was credited to DeMayo’s writing, as he actively engaged with fans on social media, guiding them through each episode.

A few weeks ago, following the season 1 finale, Beau DeMayo detailed his involvement with season 2 of the popular show, which had been announced even before the premiere of season 1. DeMayo explained that he wrote most of the upcoming season but would not be involved in leading production or directing cast recordings.

Fans initially took it as a good sign that the next season wouldn’t suffer significantly from DeMayo’s absence. However, plans have apparently changed. During yesterday’s episode of the official Marvel Podcast, the showrunners revealed that DeMayo’s script has been revised.

This news disappointed fans advocating for DeMayo’s return, interpreting it as a clear indication that there is no hope for his reinstatement. They believe the revisions signify an effort to minimize his impact on the production.

The podcast also confirmed that season 3 is in active development, with Matthew Chauncey, known for his work on ‘What If…?’, selected to write the script. Fans have taken this as another bad sign.

There’s hope that the quality won’t decline due to the change in writers, especially since ‘X-Men ’97’ is rumored to continue for many seasons due to its popularity and excellent reception.

One personal concern is that some fans might unfairly criticize future seasons simply because DeMayo isn’t involved. Everyone deserves a chance to prove their best, but reactions to the latest news about the show haven’t been very positive.
