Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew will release its first episode in just a few days. Created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, the show follows a group of kids, possibly Force-sensitive, who get lost after making a mysterious discovery and must find their way home.

The story will remind viewers of classic kids’ films like The Goonies, but it’s designed for both children and adults, with a dynamic similar to The Mandalorian, where an adult (Din Djarin) looks after a child (Grogu).

The cast includes Jude Law, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Robert Timothy Smith, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Jaleel White.

The recent release of The Acolyte has really excited fans, and now we’re expecting more mystery and maybe some surprise cameos, like the ones in Acolyte’s finale.

We’ve even come up with several theories about Jude Law’s character, wondering if he could be anything from a Grey Jedi to a clone of Palpatine.

However, Jon Watts, the creator of Skeleton Crew, set the record straight. He explained that the show won’t be packed with surprise cameos. Watts wants fans to know that Skeleton Crew isn’t about shocking viewers with big surprises or connecting heavily to other Star Wars stories.

WATTS: I don’t want people to think that there’s going to be some insane cameo in the middle of the show. Yeah, not to rule anything out, but Jude isn’t really Palpatine or anything like that.

While this may be disappointing, we’re relieved that we can enjoy the show without obsessing over every detail potentially linking to Darth Nihilus.

However, the mystery of Jude Law’s character still stands. He plays Jod Na Nawood, a mysterious figure who could be a Jedi, a former pirate, a con artist, or all three.

Skeleton Crew has a family-friendly tone, unlike the darker Andor, but Jod still fits well in the Star Wars universe. His tricky and deceptive nature blends perfectly into the galaxy’s shady, back-stabbing world.

FORD: Well, Jude’s character could totally be in Andor.
WATTS: We didn’t want this to feel like a kids’ show. It still has to be an adult world that they’re in.
