Deadpool & Wolverine was a significant milestone for the MCU. Not only did it introduce Deadpool and Wolverine to the franchise, but it also, according to Feige, paved the way for mutants in future installments.

The film signaled the start of a more financially successful period for the MCU after a series of box-office disappointments. Additionally, it played a role in reviving Wesley Snipes’ career as Blade.

Wesley Snipes portrayed the iconic vampire-hunter Blade in three films released before the MCU even existed. The success of the first Blade movie was instrumental in reviving Marvel Studios, which was on the brink of bankruptcy at the time.

Fans were thrilled to see Snipes reprise his role, and Ryan Reynolds even began advocating for Snipes to have one final “sendoff movie,” similar to Hugh Jackman’s Logan (2017), to perfectly conclude Blade’s character arc.

The idea seems promising, especially considering that after the original Blade trilogy, there was a less successful TV series featuring Sticky Fingaz as Blade. Revisiting Blade’s story could be a great opportunity.

Interestingly, Beau DeMayo, a former X-Men ’97 writer, found the concept intriguing enough to pitch his own “Old Man Blade” story to his Twitter followers.

Vampire dystopia where they learned to daywalk and took over. Humans are cattle. Brother Voodoo, part of the human resistance, learns #Blade was desiccated/entombed and resurrects him so they can hunt Varney and the Darkhold cult to wipe out all vampires. Treat it like Kurosawa.

The story could work seamlessly without affecting MCU continuity, especially if it’s set in an alternate reality or takes place before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Fans responded positively to DeMayo’s pitch, suggesting that the recently fired writer should reach out to Reynolds.
