First Look: Joseph Quinn as the MCU’s Human Torch Revealed in Set Photos from ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’

Fantastic Four: First Steps is one of the most highly anticipated releases in the MCU. The movie is scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025, and is currently filming at Durdle Door in Dorset, England.

Set in an alternate reality, the film will introduce the Fantastic Four along with some of their most well-known villains to the cinematic universe.

The main cast has been revealed for some time. Pedro Pascal will play Mr. Fantastic, while Vanessa Kirby takes on the role of Sue Storm. Joseph Quinn is set to portray Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch, with Ebon Moss-Bachrach playing Ben Grimm, or the Thing.

Recently, we got our first look at Bachrach’s portrayal of the Thing, and now new set leaks have shown Joseph Quinn in his Human Torch costume.

The suit that Quinn is presumably wearing appears to be the same one seen in the D23 ‘First Steps’ concept footage. Reactions to the suit have been positive so far, as it fits the “retro-futuristic” style that Fantastic Four aims to achieve in its marketing.

Quinn has spoken about his role several times, expressing his excitement to be part of Marvel’s first family. He humorously mentioned that he’s been practicing by setting himself on fire. However, he also emphasized that he takes the portrayal seriously.

I’ve been training for a little while now. We’ve got another few weeks, and I’ve got a wonderful trainer named Tim who’s brilliant, and is making me do all the things I don’t want to do. We’re not going for anything too enormous, physically, he just needs to look the part, and slowly, slowly, we’re getting there.
