‘From’ Season 2 Episode 2 Ending Explained: What Is Boyd Infected With?

This week’s episode of ‘From‘ failed to resolve the mysteries presented last week and instead introduced us to new ones. This was perhaps the longest night the town has ever lived through, complicated by the newcomers, much of which failed to see the sunrise.

Boyd has rendezvous with Tabitha and Victor finally, Jim has survived the night, and newcomers have finally figured out the place’s gist. Sarah is still missing, however, and we are nowhere near figuring out what is Elgin’s deal taking into account his minimal screen time in this week’s episode. Now, without further ado, let’s see how the townies survived the night and what Boyd is infected with following his encounter with the old chained-up guy, Martin.

Many of the newcomers have been killed overnight

With every new arrival in town, there are always various complications to consider. First, the strangers won’t buy into your story of the haunted town and the fact that they must stay put during the night, locked inside the building with strange magical amulets protecting them.

Every new arrival to town wants to see with their own eyes the fabled monsters hunting them, and this is a critical mistake since the moment you see the monsters face-to-face is the moment you die.

We know that people have been killed inside the bus, randomly outside of the town, and inside Tom’s bar. Many of the newcomers that have been rounded up inside the diner survived under the careful guidance of Donna and Kenny.

Kenny was kept hostage at gunpoint, but the situation was de-escalated when the screams started echoing around town.

Fatima had a mental breakdown inside the post office since she failed to save the people stuck outside the buildings. Ellis was the only thing keeping her steady from endangering herself as well.

Krissy and her fiance had an emotional reunion in the last episode, but the fiance distrusts and believes that Krissy abandoned them all to live in a cult 2 hours away from her past home. She isn’t aware that this town is a supernatural trap set up somewhere outside of the normal confines of space and time.

Jim has survived the night, but not all under the collapsed house have been so lucky

In the last week’s episode, the Matthews house collapsed on top of Jim, Tom, and one other newcomer while the mission to save Tabitha was underway. Little did they know that Tabitha was safe with Victor under the tunnels and that they were the ones in mortal danger.

The house collapsed, and three people were left inside the ruins. Since it was too close to nightfall, the town couldn’t free them in time. All Jim could do was play sitting ducks in ruins, trapped, hoping to be quiet enough so the monsters couldn’t reach them.

Everything was going well, taking circumstances into account, until the trapped newcomer started bleeding profusely from his mouth. He started making too much noise, but Tom, the bartender, paid the ultimate price. Even though Jim managed to survive the night in a difficult state, Tom was killed, and his mangled corpse was left to rot in the sun.

Boyd managed to free himself, but not after Martin managed to infect him with something

We found out that the name of the chained-up old guy was Martin and that he had spent several years, if not decades, trapped in this ruin where Boyd resurfaced.

We likewise found out that Martin was a former Marine, which is in part why Boyd did everything in his power to free him from his chains despite Martine telling him to shoot him and end his misery. Boyd started breaking the shackles with a rock, but he seemingly woke something up.

An old musical box manifested from nowhere on the floor sporting a figurine of a ballerina with one leg missing.

Before Boyd was successful in freeing Martin, things started moving under Martin’s skin. Like leeches traveling under the skin of his arms. He managed to cut Boyd with his long fingernails, telling him, “My blood is your blood now.” Soon after that, he collapsed on the floor, dead (or so it seems.)

In the next scene, Boyd is outside, standing with a torch in his hand next to some ruins. He makes it to the forest but can barely make out the shadowy figures stalking him in the forest – the monsters. Boyd puts out his torch and starts running away in an extremely weak condition.

Victor and Tabitha resurface near town and manage to find shelter in town

Following last week’s episode, we know that Victor and Tabitha left the tunnels where the monsters sleep in one piece. Now, to save their lives, they take shelter inside Victor’s old truck. Victor reveals that several of the things that can be found inside the truck belonged to his mother. This is yet another proof that Victor is the town’s oldest resident and Jade’s assumption that the boy in the old picture is Victor, holding his lunch box.

Soon after settling in, Tabitha and Victor hear a commotion outside, and they are joined by Boyd, who somehow made it out of the forest alive. Luckily, Boyd has the amulet to keep them all safe. Another newcomer to the truck shelter makes the night interesting. Elgin seemingly materializes out of thin air. This is the first time Boyd realizes several other people arrived in town via bus.

Elgin mostly sleeps and refuses to divulge any information. Victor claims that he doesn’t trust Elgin but doesn’t explain why.

After sunrise, Tabitha learns that Matthews’s house has collapsed, and fearing for her family, she starts running toward the town.

Just before departing from the truck, Boyd sees things moving under his skin. Martin infected him with the same condition that allowed him to survive decades shackled to the wall with no water, food, or just about anything. Boyd is freaked out beyond measure, and Victor likely saw what happened with Boyd’s arm but didn’t comment on it.

For now, From season 2 is moving at a snail’s pace, and we never get a proper resolution to the mysteries that are taking place. We are still wondering where Sarah is, where the electricity is coming from, and who was the voice on the other side of the radio. We likewise never learned anything about the things that Boyd and Sarah saw on their journey through the haunted forest.

Maybe at least some of the mysteries will be resolved next week when From Season 2 episode 3 drops on MGM+.
