GameStop Is Apparently Investigating a New York Store Over Strange Switch 2 Bundle Sales

Share:

With the Nintendo Switch 2 coming out soon, the demand for the console is high and it is likely that not everyone will be able to get the console on launch day due to an increased demand. That is why people have been lining up to order it as soon as possible, to get their hands on the console.

Of course, within the context of such a situation, it isn’t unusual that some illegal or unusual practices are reported from time to time, but you wouldn’t really expect them from a certified store, would you?

Well, based on some recent online reports, a store in New York is being investigated by GameStop over some unusual practices.

The report actually came from a social media user, who reported that a store in New York is forcing players to “buy bundles, cases, screen protectors, etc.,” which shouldn’t be allowed. Here is the post:

This hasn’t been verified by anyone officially, so please take it with a grain of salt, as it might be a misunderstanding or a false report. But, if true, this means that the store is forcing you to spend more money if you want your Switch 2 unit, which isn’t something they should be doing, as everyone should be able to buy what they want without being coerced into buying something else.

Based on another social media post, GameStop has decided to react to this issue:

At this point, there has been no official reaction by GameSpot in relation to this investigation so we don’t know the results. But this is a good reminder to everyone that such practices should not be tolerated and that you have somewhere to go and someone to complain to in case you’re experiencing this.
