Grant Gustin Says He Didn’t Like Some Storylines in ‘The Flash’ Season 7

Grant Gustin, who played Barry Allen in The Flash, recently appeared at Liverpool Comic-Con and spoke about parts of Season 7 that he didn’t enjoy. In a new interview, he said he didn’t like the “Forces” storyline and also had problems with the lightsaber-style fight in the Godspeed arc.

In Season 7, Barry and Iris were shown to have created powerful energy beings called the Forces. These beings were treated like their “children” on the show. Gustin wasn’t a fan of that idea.

Calling the forces ‘my children’… I tried to talk them out of that,” he said.

He also talked about the fight scene with the villain Godspeed, which involved lightsaber-style weapons made out of speed energy. That scene surprised him in a not-so-good way.

I was like… we can do this now? Really?” Gustin said about the battle.

Even though The Flash has had many wild and creative moments over its 9-season run, Gustin clearly felt that some storylines in Season 7 pushed things too far.

Gustin also previously commented on season 7. He opened up how very nervous about one scene in the Season 7 premiere. In that scene, he had to act like the different versions of Harrison Wells, a role usually played by Tom Cavanagh.

He was especially worried about doing the French accent for the Sherloque Wells version. But the showrunner, Eric Wallace, believed in him and said Grant did a great job.

Still, the actor stayed with the show until it ended in Season 9 and is thankful for the journey. But it’s clear that not everything worked for him along the way.
