Guardians of the Galaxy: Dave Bautista Opens Up About The Finale In Vol. 3

James Gunn recently confirmed that the upcoming third installment of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will bring closure to the team as we know it. Guardians debuted on the big screen in 2014 with the original movie set in the MCU. The sequel followed in 2017, and Guardians were also a part of crossover movies Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

The original Guardians team featured Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, Vin Diesel’s Groot, Bradley Cooper’s Rocket, and Dave Bautista’s Drax. New members later joined the team, including Karen Gillian’s Nebula, Pom Klementieff’s Mantis, and, most recently, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, which explains why the Guardians will appear in the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder this summer before they head off to their new adventure in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Writer and director James Gunn revealed recently that the third movie will bring closure to this team. Dave Bautista, who played Drax in four MCU movies so far, now opened up about the announced ending:

“It’s our third film, we’re gonna wrap it up. And it’s been a hell of a journey with a few bumps. So, I’m looking forward to this, man. My cast and obviously the director, James Gunn, they’re like family to me. This is kind of where my journey started. It’s come full circle and I’m looking forward to wrapping it up. And it’s bittersweet. I mean, I’ve been doing Guardians since 2013. And, you know, when this comes out, it’ll be in 2023, so that’s a, you know, 10-year journey. You know, all things must end. And, you know, I’m looking forward to kind of wrapping this up with my friends and family.” — Dave Bautista

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to debut on May 5, 2023. But no worries, before we get to that, we will still see Guardians in the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy: The Holiday Special, which will be released on Disney+ later this year.
