When James Gunn & Peter Safran revamped the DCEU into the newly dubbed “DCU,” they unveiled a slew of projects, including both movies and live-action shows. Among these announcements was ‘Lanterns,’ and after months of silence, Gunn finally provided an update on the project. The director confirmed recent rumors regarding the show’s writing team.

The Lanterns DCU series is bringing together a talented group of writers, including Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof, who have crafted an impressive pilot script and bible. He extended a warm welcome to Chris and Damon as they join the DC Studios family, alongside long-time member Tom King.

Yes, it’s true. The Lanterns DCU series is putting together a crack team of writers, based on a wonderful pilot script and bible by Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof. A hearty welcome to Chris and @damonlindelof as they join the DC Studios family (no welcome necessary for old @tomking_tk, who has been here nearly since inception).

After the announcement, a fan known as @AkkiZac019 on X shared a series of screenshots showcasing Gunn’s past remarks aimed at Lindelof. In these comments, Gunn referred to the writer as a “satan,” a scam artist, and hurled other insults, likely stemming from dissatisfaction with the conclusion of the widely acclaimed mystery series ‘Lost.’

Lindelof is close to Satan in my book because of the end of Lost. He’s the Uri Gellar of storytellers, a total scam artist with no integrity whatsoever. And a liar.

We’re not sure if Gunn was joking or serious, but yikes… He also directed criticism towards Ridley Scott…

‘Lanterns’ was labeled as a cosmic detective story reminiscent of ‘True Detective,’ and recent rumors suggest the studio is seeking a younger yet well-known actor to play John Stewart, alongside Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner.

Apart from that, there’s little information available about the show. Hopefully, Lindelof and Gunn can resolve their differences and effectively collaborate on this project.
