While fans of the adult animated series Harley Quinn are waiting for the third season, the HBOMax have already started development on the first spin-off — Noonan’s, which will focus on the already known character Kite Man.

Kite Man is an alter ego of Charles Chuck Brown, who is commonly known as the supervillain appearing in the DC comics. The character was created by writer Bill Finger (co-creator of Batman with Bob Kane) and Dick Sprang, who illustrated the character. Kite Man, as his name suggests, is using kite-based weapons and equipment to commit crimes.

Ever since the character was introduced, he was mocked because of the generally funny idea to make a supervillain whose main weapon is a kite, the character wasn’t completely forgotten, although he never managed to become a popular supervillain. The character was quickly mentioned by The Joker in The LEGO® Batman Movie, but probably his most famous incarnation was in the Harley Quinn animated series, in which he was voiced by Matt Oberg.

During the first two seasons of the series, Kite Man was a boyfriend, and later fiancée to Poison Ivy. Although they planned to tie the knot, Harley confessed her love to Ivy and they ran away together, while Kite Man remained alone. Similar to Harley Quinn having to find herself after her breakup with Joker, now Kite Man needs to do the same after his breakup with Ivy. And that’s what the upcoming spin-off series will be about. The series will be titled Noonan’s, and it will follow Kite Man as he buys the titular bar.

“We have Harley and Ivy appear in the first episode, but after that, we have with different goons and villains appearing every episode like Lex Luthor and Bane. It will be kind of like ‘Cheers’ for supervillains.”Harley Quinn co-creator Patrick Schumacker

The Harley Quinn animated series will return with Season 3 later this year on HBOMax. The series is starring Bing Bang Theory and The Flight Attendant star Kaley Cuoco in the titular role, and Lake Bell as Poison Ivy.
