Harrison Ford Bows Out of 2025 Oscars Due to Shingles Diagnosis

Hollywood legend Harrison Ford will not be presenting at the 2025 Oscars this weekend after being diagnosed with shingles. Entertainment Weekly confirmed the news, reporting that the 82-year-old actor is resting and recovering.

Ford received the diagnosis yesterday and decided to step down from his presenting duties this morning.

Just last weekend, he appeared at the 2025 SAG Awards, where he shared a fun moment with his Shrinking co-star Jessica Williams during the Netflix broadcast.

Ford, who was once nominated for an Oscar for his role in Witness, was announced as a presenter on Wednesday. Other presenters set to take the stage include Dave Bautista, Gal Gadot, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Alba Rohrwacher, Rachel Zegler, and Zoe Saldaña, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress this year.

The ceremony will also feature past Oscar winners such as Cillian Murphy, Emma Stone, Robert Downey Jr., and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Whoopi Goldberg will make her first appearance as an Oscars presenter in almost a decade. Other stars, including Penélope Cruz, Halle Berry, and Goldie Hawn, will also take part.

The 2025 Oscars, hosted by Conan O’Brien, will air live on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ABC and Hulu. The red carpet coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
