Harry Potter: Original Trio Will Have A Reunion In HBOMax’s Special ‘Return To Hogwarts’
It’s been ten years since the original Harry Potter movie franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint concluded with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. And since then, the franchise didn’t lose its popularity.
Although the spin-off movie franchise Fantastic Beasts starring Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander started in 2016 and its third movie is set to hit theaters next year, many fans are still missing the original cast that brought us into the Wizarding World.

Chris Columbus, director of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, movies that were released in 2001 and 2002, respectively, recently revealed that he would like to make a new movie, an adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a stage play that serves as the sequel to both final movie and the final book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Although we don’t know if that idea will ever become a reality, HBOMax still prepared for us a little special in which Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and other cast members from the movies will join Columbus to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Officially titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, the special will debut on HBOMax on January 1, 2022. The special will also air on Cartoon Network in spring 2022, prior to the release of the third Fantastic Beasts installment – Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
Harry Potter film series released eight movies between 2001 and 2011. The franchise grossed $7.7 billion at the global box office, which makes it is the third most successful movie franchise ever.
