Hayden Christensen to Have Expanded Role in ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, Reports Say
After the successful first season of ‘Ahsoka,’ the studio wasted no time in renewing the show for a second season. In January, it was officially confirmed that Dave Filoni was working on Season 2.
Notably, one of the highlights from the initial season was Hayden Christensen’s return as Anakin Skywalker, providing fans with a delightful dose of nostalgia.
Now according to the latest reports, Hayden will reprise his role in season 2 but he will apparently have a much greater role. The news comes from notable scooper and leaker MyTimeToShineHello.
Fan reactions were mixed since most people couldn’t figure out how Hayden could return when he is currently dead. Fans also raised questions about how that would affect Ahsoka’s character arc and development. Seeing her former mentor affected her greatly and allowed her to unlock the true power within her. Bringing Anakin back full-time might undo some of that development.
In addition to the existing plotlines, there’s a compelling theory that Anakin will return as one of the enigmatic Mortis gods. The season concludes with Ahsoka and Sabine stranded in the new galaxy, while Thrawn and Ezra make their way back to the original Star Wars galaxy. Baylan’s discovery of massive statues depicting the Mortis gods—a group of powerful Force-wielders introduced in ‘The Clone Wars’—adds an intriguing layer to the narrative. In the final scene, Anakin materializes as a Force ghost, silently watching over Ahsoka and Sabine. This poignant moment underscores the master-apprentice theme, uniting three generations of Jedi—Anakin, Ahsoka, and Sabine—in a single frame.
