Heaven and Hell Meet Again in the First Trailer for ‘Good Omens’ Season 2

In 1990, fantasy literature Gods Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman decided to join forces to come up with the ultimate book. The result was Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, a book that matched their different styles into a hilarious and exciting adventure. Many years later, the BBC Network and Amazon Studios also joined forces for the creation of its screen adaptation. The first Good Omens season was an enormous success, and now the forces of Good and Evil join once again for its second season, which promises to be another hilarious descent into madness and the divine.

Amazon Studios has revealed today the first trailer of season 2. This new season sees our main characters, the angelic and always polite Aziraphale, played by Michael Sheen, and the demonic and always troublesome Crowley, played by David Tennant, meeting once more as the situation in Heaven seems to have become a bit complicated.

You see Archangel Gabriel, who was shown to be one of the main leading forces in Heaven in the first season, has disappeared and suddenly appeared in front of Aziraphale in search of asylum. What has happened to Gabriel? And what will happen to Heaven without its leadership? Will God come back from their vacations? There are many questions, and the answers must wait for Season 2’s release.

The show’s second season sees Michael Sheen and David Tennant returning to their legendary roles and bringing some newcomers. Among the newcomers, we can find Quelin Sepulveda, Tom Downie, Sian Phillips, Peter Davidson, and Ty Tennant. Although not everything is good news, we know so far that Frances McDormand and Benedict Cumberbatch won’t be returning for this new adventure.

Season 2 has big shoes to fill, which is something of an unknown quality product. Let’s remember that the first season managed to adapt the entire novel; thus, we as audiences at least knew the story would be cool, no matter how much they ruined it everywhere else, but now we are all in new uncharted territory, which is exciting and terrifying in equal parts. Let’s hope that Gaiman and the rest of the team have come up with something undeniably cool and worth it to receive the title of a Good Omens adventure.

Good Omens Season 2 will be released on Amazon Prime Video on July 28, 2023.
