Hell’s Paradise: Does Yuzuriha Like Gabimaru? Relationship Explained!
Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, sometimes referred to as simply Hell’s Paradise, is a manga series that was created by Yūji Kaku, who both wrote and illustrated it. The manga was first released on January 22, 2018, and it was freely serialized on the Shōnen Jump+ app and website. Hell’s Paradise is filled with some amazing and memorable characters, and in this article, we have decided to talk about the relationship between two of them, namely Yuzuriha and Gabimaru. This article is going to explore the nature of their relationship and reveal whether Yuzuriha liked Gabimaru or not.
Yuzuriha does not like Gabimaru, although it might seem like it from what could be seen in the recent episode of the anime. She did try to seduce him and hugged him on several occasions, but she was pinned down each time; she did it not because she liked him but because she wanted him to do what she wanted. Gabimaru told her that such tricks wouldn’t work on him, and by the time the mission ended, they have become friends.
The remainder of this article will give you a detailed overview of Yuzuriha’s relationship with Gabimaru, as it happened on the pages of the Hell’s Paradise manga. You already know the gist of the issue, so we will just bring you the details so you know the whole context. Be careful, though, as the article will contain many spoilers, so if you don’t know all the details, be careful how you approach the text.
Yuzuriha and Gabimaru were on the same mission
When we first meet Gabimaru, he is a young shinobi sentenced to death and awaiting execution. And while he says he does not care about living and that he wants to die, none of the execution methods work – the blade breaks on his neck, his skin does not burn, and so forth. While repeating to a female chronicler, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, that he does not know why the executions keep failing and that he is not resisting them willingly, it becomes quite obvious that he is lying.
When it was revealed that Yamada Asaemon Sagiri was actually a royal executioner, Gabimaru was shocked. Sagiri revealed to him that she knew that he was willingly resisting being executed, using his superhuman traits to resist being killed. But, as a royal executioner, Saigiri was definitely able to pierce through his defenses, which she ultimately did, almost decapitating him with ease. She stopped and offered him to go with her in search of the Elixir of Life at the Shogun’s behest, promising him a royal pardon if he succeeded.

Knowing that it could take him back to his wife, Gabimaru accepted. So, why did we repeat all of this? Yuzuriha had a similar story, although we never saw it from her point of view.
We knew that she lived in a shinobi village with her younger sister, who died from an incurable disease; after that, Yuzuriha decided to become a kunoichi, and not only did she succeed, she became one of the very best in all of Japan. At some point in the past, she decided to raid the heavily-guarded Sagiwa Castle and successfully defeated all the retainers that had been guarding it. This was when she became a notorious criminal, and soon after, she was caught and sentenced to death.
But, before her execution, just like Gabimaru, she was approached by an executioner; in her case, it was Yamada Asaemon Senta. He approached her and offered the chance for a royal pardon if she would go on a dangerous mission for the shogun to find the Elixir of Life on Kotaku. The Elixir would grant the shogun immortality, and as a token of gratitude, he would give those who brought it a royal pardon for all of their crimes. This is how Yuzuriha ended up in the same group as Gabimaru and how their paths actually crossed.
The two of them became friends by the time the mission ended
Yuzuriha and Gabimaru had no contact during the selection process. They were assigned different retainers and landed on different parts of the island, which is why they had different beginnings. When they actually meet, the first thing that Yuzuriha tries to do to Gabimaru is to seduce him. She offered him that the two of them team up and succeed in the mission, which was a drastically different approach from the other criminals, as they thought it was best to eliminate the competition rather than collaborate with them. Gabimaru simply pinned her down and told her that these techniques would not work on him, which is related to his personality and feelings for Yui.
Yuzuriha would later also hug Gabimaru on several occasions, but each time, she would be pinned down, with Gabimaru stating that the two of them are not that close and that he does not trust her. And he was right not to. Namely, as it turned out, Yuzuriha reached Gabimaru and Sagiri with two executioners – Yamada Asaemon Senta, who was her retainer, and Yamada Asaemon Genji, who was the retainer of Moro Makiya. But, by the time they met, Moro Makiya was already dead.
Why? Yuzuriha seduced him so she could use him as her puppet to explore the island, which is how he died, being turned into a flower by one of the Sōshin. By losing his criminal in such a way, Genji realized that Yuzuriha was dangerous and that she could not be left alone with just one executioner, so he joined Senta in watching over her.

Yuzuriha admitted to this, i.e., she did not deny it, and she confirmed that she simply wanted to explore the island and save her own life. Moro Makiya was easy to manipulate, and she did what she had to survive, getting a better perspective on what awaited her on the island. Before agreeing to team up with her, Gabimaru demanded to know why she was offering this to him, and Yuzuriha told him that she simply wanted to get back home and nothing else. That was it. Gabimaru believed her and agreed to team up, but once again pinned her down as she hugged him, telling her that they are not that close.
Yuzuriha and Gabimaru became closer as time passed, but it was never a romantic relationship. The two of them became close friends and worked to protect each other over the course of the story, and they eventually succeeded. Gabimaru never developed any feelings for Yuzuriha, and Yuzuriha cared for Gabimaru in a friendly manner; she was not an evil person, far from it.
She was caring and emotional, and while seductive and flirty, she had a very sincere side to her, which was seen on several occasions. Gabimaru also changed a lot over the course of their shared adventure and became a better person, which is why the two of them remained friends after their mission, as was seen when Sagiri and Yuzuriha visited Gabimaru and Yui at their home after everything had settled down.
