While the fans of open-world video games were busy the last couple of weeks with Horizon: Forbidden West and/or Elden Ring, we couldn’t have overlooked that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment finally gave us a proper look at the gameplay of the upcoming and widely anticipated video game Hogwarts Legacy.
Let’s be honest, if you are a fan of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, then you dreamed of going to Hogwarts, a famous school of witchcraft and wizardry, at least once in your life. Well, the upcoming video game Hogwarts Legacy will be the closest we’ll ever get in living that dream.
Avalanche Software, a video game developing company that previously worked for Disney is developing this game ever since the company was bought by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in 2017. Although Hogwarts Legacy isn’t their first, it’s by far their biggest project yet.
Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world game set on the grounds of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade in the 1800s, which is around 100 years before Harry Potter’s time. Due to that, we’re not expecting to see familiar faces from the books and movies, but some ghosts that we’re going to see in the game might be familiar.
The game was revealed in 2020 with the release window set for 2021, but the game was later delayed to 2022, and it was recently confirmed that the game will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch during the next Holiday Season.
The recent gameplay reveal unveiled many new and interesting information about the game, including some of the known spells and charms that the player will be able to use in combat or to solve puzzles to advance in the game. You can check the list down below:
- Wingardium Leviosa — the Levitation Charm

These are the spells that the player will be able to use, but the list could be even longer. We’re looking forward to the new reveals about the game before it finally arrives during the next Holiday Season.
