Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, better known as simply Horimiya is a Japanese shōnen web manga. It has been published since October 22, 2008, by Square Enix in their Gangan Online magazine, and the series ended with a total of ten tankōbon volumes. The manga was initially adapted as a 6-episode OVA series that was released between 2012 and 2021. In 2021, a proper 13-episode anime series was released, with a second season – Horimiya: The Missing Pieces – which premiered in 2023. Horimiya is one of the most popular romance series ever, and in this article, we have decided to bring you the complete watch order for the Horimiya anime series.

How many Horimiya seasons and episodes are there?

As of the time of writing, Horimiya has a total of one OVA season and two proper anime seasons. The OVA has a total of six episodes, which were released between 2012 and 2021, while the anime has a total of two 13-episode seasons, bringing the total to 26. If you add all this up, you get a total number of 32 episodes, and that is the total amount of content as far as the Horimiya anime adaptation is concerned. Of course, you need to know that the OVA and the anime aren’t narratively connected, so they should be viewed as separate narrative entities.

Horimiya watch order at a glance

In this section, we are going to bring you the complete list of Horimiya works by their respective release orders. As we have said, the Horimiya anime series consists of a 6-episode OVA anime series, and a two-season anime series that aired later. This is what it all looks like:

Do you need to watch Horimiya in a specific order?

The watch order of Horimiya is a bit specific, but not overly complex. Namely, the original OVA series is not related to the anime series, which is what makes this series a bit specific. So, if you want to get a proper adaptation of the manga, you should watch the anime series, starting with the first episode and then continuing until the final one. But, the OVA is also a piece of history so you should consult it as well, but there is really no specific time at which you should watch it because the narratives are not connected. We’d suggest watching the anime first, and then the OVA series.

What is the best way to watch Horimiya?

The best way to watch Horimiya is by following our suggested watch order, as it is the simplest way to do it; this means that you should start off with the 2021 anime series to see a proper adaptation of the manga, after which you can enjoy the OVA as a piece of history and an alternative take on the original story. But, if you want, you can follow the proper release order as well and first watch the OVA series and then the anime, as you won’t really be ruining anything for yourselves.
