Doctor Doom may be the face of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, but his mechanical army is quickly becoming the breakout star of the film’s merchandise. Ever since Marvel’s Comic-Con presentation confirmed that Doom raises an army of Sentinels, the mutant-hunting robots have been popping up everywhere, from promo art to premium collectibles.

The marketing has made the threat hard to miss. Trailers have shown Doom commanding the Sentinels, while new promotional art released through ‘Marvel Snap’ depicts a burned-down X-Mansion with a Sentinel’s wreckage lying in front of it.

Now Hot Toys has unveiled its Sentinel collectible for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The new piece, labeled as a Jumbo Sofvi Figure in the promotional images, follows a teaser in which the company told fans to prepare for the full reveal.

The figure towers in a deep purple and maroon armored design, with glowing green eyes peering out from beneath its angular helmet. Its oversized hands and segmented plating give it an imposing, industrial look.

The most striking detail might be the sense of scale. In one image, a much smaller figure of Doctor Doom stands at the Sentinel’s feet, underscoring just how massive these machines are compared to the villain controlling them.

The Sentinel’s influence runs throughout Hot Toys’ ‘Doomsday’ collection. The Ultimate Version of the company’s Doctor Doom figure, which stands roughly 31 centimeters tall with 30 points of articulation, comes with a specially designed Sentinel hand-themed diorama base featuring LED lighting and a mystery accessory, priced at $390.

Steve Rogers is getting the same treatment. His Deluxe Version includes an imposing Sentinel-themed diorama base with LED lighting, while a damaged Sentinel base has also been previewed.

Other figures appear to hint at major battle moments. Thor’s Hot Toys figure shows him standing atop a destroyed Sentinel head surrounded by lightning, James Marsden’s Cyclops is posed amid a wrecked Sentinel head, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit is shown slicing through one with his charged cards.

Together, these collectibles suggest a huge showdown between the Avengers, the X-Men and Doom’s robotic army. A recent promotional visual even shows heroes from the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four battling giant Sentinels, with Giant-Man going toe-to-toe with one of them.

For X-Men fans, the stakes feel especially personal. The mutants have decades of history fighting these robots, and seeing them under Doom’s control raises the threat considerably.

Hot Toys isn’t the only company getting in on the action. Funko has released a 10-inch Jumbo Pop! of the ‘Doomsday’ Sentinel, priced at $39.99, for fans looking for a more affordable option.

The wider Hot Toys and Sideshow line also includes Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops, Beast and Gambit, with prices for the standard and deluxe figures ranging from $285 to $390. Pricing and release details for the new Sentinel have not yet been confirmed.

Fans have been impressed with the design since early looks at the figure surfaced in July. One reaction praised it as a perfect take on the Sentinels, saying the accuracy had been nailed.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in theaters on December 18, bringing together the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and the original X-Men against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Patrick Stewart and Paul Rudd, among many others.

With each new collectible teasing another piece of the Sentinel battle, it’s clear these towering machines will play a major role in Doom’s plans. For collectors, the Hot Toys Sentinel looks like the centerpiece of a very crowded shelf.
