Ryan Condal, who co-created the series with the author George R.R. Martin, and Miguel Sapochnik who directed the first episode and serves as the co-showrunner with Condal, opened up about the beginning of the series and how it sets up all the future events. The first season will consist of 10 episodes, and we can already assume it’s a matter of time before HBO officially greenlights the second season.

House of the Dragon is the prequel series set 172 before the events of the original Game of Thrones series. The series is focused on the House Targaryen during the time when their dynasty ruled the Seven Kingdoms. King Viserys I Targaryen is the current king at the beginning of the series, and he decides to name his daughter Rhaenyra his heir instead of his brother Daemon, who was initially heir presumptive to the Iron Throne. This will cause the Civil War in the family, because only one person can sit on the throne, and we can’t wait to see how will that resolve.

House of the Dragon is starring Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, Milly Alcock, Emily Carey, and Graham McTavish. The first episode of the series is now streaming on HBOMax.
