‘House of the Dragon’ Reigns as 2024’s Most-Pirated TV Show
‘House of the Dragon‘ is the most-pirated TV show of 2024 on torrent sites. The popular ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel takes the crown back from ‘The Last of Us,’ which was last year’s most-pirated show. Amazon’s ‘The Boys’ comes in second, while Disney’s ‘Shōgun’ is the biggest new entry on the list.
‘House of the Dragon’ being on top of the list is not a surprise really considering that ‘Game Of Thrones’ has reigned as first for several years.
Last year, with no dragon-themed shows, HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ led the list. However, the dragons have returned to the top for 2024. While ‘House of the Dragon’ faced tough competition from ‘Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ two years ago, it easily took first place this year.
Unsurprisingly, the Tolkien-inspired series didn’t even make the top 10, confirming that the viewership of the show was perhaps a bit inflated according to official sources.
Amazon still secured the number two spot with ‘The Boys,’ and Disney’s ‘Shōgun’ took third place. Other shows in the top 10, including Netflix’s popular animated series ‘Arcane,’ all come from major streaming platforms.
Perhaps the biggest addition to the list is Max’s ‘The Penguin’ who came in fifth. The show is the latest installment in Matt Reeves’ Batman Epic Crime Saga. The show was a massive success breaking several notable records for its streaming platform.
Amazon Prime’s ‘Fallout’ and ‘Reacher’ continue to attract viewers, while Apple TV+’s ‘Silo’ and Max’s ‘Dune: Prophecy’ have drawn attention as newcomers. Paramount+’s ‘Halo’ rounds out the top 10 with its dedicated fan base.
Finally, it’s worth noting this chart only tracks BitTorrent downloads, which are just a small part of the piracy world. Most people now use streaming sites, which don’t report viewing numbers.
