At this point, HBO’s Game of Thrones franchise will go down in history not only as one of the most popular franchises but also as one of the most leaked ones. Dozens of clips from the eighth episode of ‘House of the Dragon,’ set to air on August 4, were illegally uploaded to a new TikTok account on Tuesday night, just days before the finale’s release.

The clips, which were captured by filming a screen with a secondary device, have been re-shared on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) even after the original account was taken down. The videos had amassed over 100,000 views before their removal.

So far HBO did not comment on the incident and it’s unknown who or what is behind the leak. This however is not the only incident related to ‘House of the Dragon.’ Back in 2022, during season 1 of the show, the entire final episode was uploaded on illegal streaming and pirating sites a week before it was scheduled to premiere.

HBO attributed the leak to a distribution partner in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa. The studio worked tirelessly to remove all copies in circulation but you know how it goes, once it’s online it’s online forever.

Similar incidents marked the original run of the ‘Game of Thrones’ show as well. The entire episode of season 7 was leaked and quickly found its way to Torrent sites. At that time, HBO explained that a third-party vendor accidentally posted it.

There was also that incident with Reddit leaks when a single user on a popular show-related subreddit managed to spoil a good portion of season 8.
