How Tall Is John Wick? (Compared to Other John Wick Characters)
If you’re a fan of action movies, there’s almost no chance you haven’t seen John Wick yet. What started as a cool story about a retired hitman avenging the death of his dog blossomed into one of the best action franchises in cinematic history. Seeing that John appears to be of an average body type compared to other characters he faces, fans wonder: how tall is John Wick?
John Wick is 6’1’’ (185 cm) tall in the John Wick movies. While the films never explicitly state his height, we know the height of Keanu Reeves – the actor portraying the titular character. Compared to other John Wick characters, he’s of average height – making him that much more of a badass.
I mean, when you have an action hero like Dwayne Johnson, who’s a walking wrecking ball, you expect him to beat everybody with a mean stare, right? The point of John Wick is that he appears to be just an average guy – not too tall, not too bulky, not too mean. It shows you never know what lies beneath the surface of a person. Here’s how John Wick compared to other characters.
John Wick’s height
What makes John Wick such a phenomenal, beloved action-movie hero is not just Keanu Reeve’s masterful acting. It’s the type of person that John Wick is. He looks like an average guy. Average height, average body build, mild personality – nothing that stands out and says – okay, this dude is a stone-cold assassin.
He looks like your neighborhood dad, yet he’s one of the most dangerous people on the planet, playing into that particular thought in the movies – you never know what a person is capable of, even when you think you know them.
Even if you compare John Wick’s height to other characters in the franchise, you’ll see that he appears – average. The movies never explicitly state John’s height, but we know that Keanu Reeves – the actor portraying John Wick – is 6’1’’ (185 cm) tall – right around average male height.
We all remember that library scene in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum when he fights the giant guy and kills him with a book. John looks like a kid next to him, but in all honesty, everyone does next to Boban Marjanović. Boban is an NBA player from Serbia who stands at a staggering 7’4’’ (224 cm).
Iosef Tarasof (portrayed by Alfie Allen), aka the guy who killed John’s dog, is 5’9’’ (175 cm). His dad, Viggo Tarasov (portrayed by Michael Nyqvist), is 5’10’’ (178 cm), while Winston (portrayed by Ian McShane) stands at 5’7½’’ (171 cm).
The Bowery King, aka ‘the pigeon guy,’ was portrayed by Laurence Fishburne – a guy who already marked one action movie franchise with Keanu Reeves. He’s just slightly shorter than John Wick, standing at 6 feet (183 cm).
However, we did see John Wick tower over some characters, mostly female. The beautiful Ruby Rose played an assassin in John Wick: Chapter 2, and she stands at 5’6½’’ (169 cm). There was also Halle Berry, who is 5’5’’ (165 cm).
In John Wick: Chapter 4, we saw some other familiar faces from both the action genre and in general. Scott Adkins appeared in this movie, and although you might think he’s taller than Keanu because of his bulkier build, he’s actually 5’11’’ (180 cm), a bit shorter than our titular guy.
That being said, there’s a guy that’s much taller than John. Bill Skarsgård portrays Marquis in the movie, and he stands at 6’3½’’ (192 cm) – much taller than Mr. Baba Yaga.
As you can see, John falls somewhere in the middle again, adding to that ‘average guy’ vibe.
